I had 285/75/16's on my quigley when I first got it and never heard any tire rub till I borrowed a friends 315's. Even then you'd only hear a slight rub at full lock hitting a bump. Gotta remember how much rim offsets and widths will weigh into this equation.

one of my favorite things about getting into a 4x4 van was being able to see all that great scenery on the other side of guardrails and freeway barriers, hahahaha.

most of the ones ive seen were in really good shape. those rigs usually end up at the yards because they were in fender benders and exceeded vehicle worth for insurance claims, or stopped running...
