What are the downsides to a FWC?

The FWC is a great product. To me the negatives to consider. 1. East coast trails, most stick out a bit on the sides, our trails are tighter and have more trees. Just this year I have been down FS roads that a FWC on my truck would have caught stuff. 2. Soft sides. I may be wrong, but I am not...

Just got my Canon D6. Tips and tricks anyone?

Not sure how soon your trip is, but if you get into a jam, shoot on the green square mode. I never suggest that except for folks on a lifetime trip and no time to learn their gear.... the camera will surprise you, and you can enjoy the trip and not stress so much on using the camera. For wider...

So your daughter cuts her finger...

To be clear, I meant Super Glue needs to stay dry for 24 hours after applied as a bonding agent on skin. At least that was what I was told by an ER nurse.

So your daughter cuts her finger...

Superglue has to dry 24 hours - I have heard. Duct Tape would re-open the wound if you had to peel it or it peeled. I think you did the best there was - and have a well stocked first aid kit.

    Redesigned Flippac?

That was the brilliance of the FP design. One size lid. So one size tent. The only change was the sides/back. I have the same size bed as a F250 does.

    The Money Pit Ford Ranger

I don't know if this would work or be simpler than pulling the spindle, but here it goes.... Take a couple pieces of angle iron or thick stock, bolt tight to spacer and tap some holes and use long bolts. You would tighten the long bolts on inner edge of rotor or protected scrap over rotor. Like...

    Redesigned Flippac?

Westranger, I remember it too. I didn't track it since I need the bed space of the FP with a 5 foot bed. lx450 - I remember yours too, even when you sold it. I think it was awesome. But it didn't address two of my fears. Torsion bar and tent quality... good luck on the new project!

    Redesigned Flippac?

I agree with everything Billy Bee said, lots of room for improvement, but they designed and make a versatile product - can you image how tough it would be to build custom fit shells for every truck out there - I was surprised they even made a 5 foot option. I have enjoyed mine for over 100...

With my 40 series and the extra tall aftermarket seats a PO installed, I used a side mirror convex on the dash. Worked for me for $1.99. Not sure it would cover this overhang.

    need help with camera selection

If you are set on Canon (great system) - I would at least go up to the 60d. For the Northern Lights, speed is huge. f2.8 lens and wide. 6.0 sec; f/2.8; ISO 1600 with crop sensor Nikon D7000 - but this was a bright show. Most exposures were 30 seconds at 2.8

    Redesigned Flippac?

I have never heard of it. I seem to remember someone tried to bring back the Wilderness, but was never heard from. I really wonder if you tried to do it, but had to outsource your fiberglass, the total would be double the current price. Remember this is a side biz for FRP when they are not busy...

My Taco Phoenix Pop Up Camper

Funny story, I met a Phoenix owner on a road trip and as they were looking over my FP, I asked if his Phoenix leaked.... he hung his head and said yes.... I could tell it was a major issue in his ownership and let it go. Too bad, it looked nice!
