Had the time today to get the swing out tire carrier installed. It wasn't as difficult as I expected. Here are a couple pics of the finished project. My apologies for the night time pics as I wanted to get some pics posted tonight. I will take some more tomorrow. I've actually enjoyed the build...
I picked up a 20 inch led light bar and got it installed. What a difference it makes at night. Definitely brighter than the old Hellas. I also got a swing out tire carrier off of a Bronco II. Probably need to do some modifications for it to work. But for 20.00 I can't complain. Here's a couple pics.
And todays.I try to get pics but sometimes I get sidetracked w the beautiful scenery and backcountry. Definitely thankful to our creator. We also recently added a female yellow lab pup to the family. Today was her first trip out. We all had a great time. Definitely nice to build memories w the kids.
Ok a quick update. I had to rebuild both front and rear driveshafts within the last 2 months. I also picked up a receiver mounted tire carrier for the long trips out. Gives me a place for the spare or for the second one once I pick it up. Here's a couple pics of it.The carrier fits good w the...
A quick update on the Kota. I got my second battery installed in the rear bed. I also acquired a rack from some scrap metal at work. I cleaned it up and put a couple coats of Rustoleum flat black paint. It holds 1 5-gallon and 1 6-gallon water can and a 2 and 5 gallon fuel can. It attaches to...
Just a quick update. Have made a few improvements/upgrades. I upgraded the 55 watt bulbs in my Hellas to the 100 watt bulbs. I swapped out the rear halogen spot light for a 1200 lumens led. What a difference it makes. I also picked up an AGM battery with both top and side mount from work. Its...
My 92 Dak takes me where I need to go. Of course w 3 in lift, 31s and
a rear limited slip along w full skid plates I can't complain. But I say modify it to what works for you and enjoy.
Thanks for all the kind words. I've kept the cost of the build at a minimum. I just started working at O'reilly's auto parts. Will be training for management soon. So I get a decent discount on parts. Needless to say I'm making a list of upgrades for the Dak. Stay tuned.
And here are some updated pics. I picked up for free some of the interlocking 1 inch thick hd foam padding. I had a couple pieces left over so I cut to size for a seat pad for the tailgate. I have a complete build up of the truck over in the domestic rigs section. Here's a quick shot of the rig.
Here's my current set up for my Dakota. I have a ARE high rise l contractors camper shell that I picked up on my local Craigslist for 50.00. Due to having the high rise roof it's given me great storage for lighter items. The shell also has a roof rack.
I found a ladder in the scrap metal bin where I work. I figured it would work for access to the roof rack. Got it put on today. I need to find a better way to attach it to the shell. I also found some of that 1 inch interlocking foam padding. Work good for the sleeping platform. I also used 2...
