My hope was that I could bond a flexible panel to the top and the tracks could help keep it hidden.
I have to keep my cross bars off most of the time because I do not have any height to spare in a lot of parking decks on my garage at home.
I also live in Georgia and it is not politically...
I keep my lunches and food for my work week in the fridge in my truck.
My issue is that I do not always run my truck enough during the summer week days to put back the energy my fridge uses while It is parked in hot Atlanta parking lots.
I do not want to have to worry about plugging it in or...
I added a second battery to my truck to run my fridge but I am only getting about 1day of runtime out of it during the summer.
Battery is a flooded lead acid deep cycle from advance auto 90 ah mounted to the frame under the cab.
I have it connected to the engine battery with a Yandina...

I do like white gas stuff better but one place I will not use it is on my boat.
Wife went to visit her parents so I Went fishing last weekend and slept on the boat in a cove. Hung my hammock between my t top and front rail. Made coffee in the morning.
To me the rtt is more comfortable than my ground tents.
I have one that I use on top of my f150. I have a leer shell and the tent is on top of the shell. I usually tow a boat so I cannot pull a camper. I did install a second battery and isolator in the truck so I have lights and a 12 volt fan...
In my opinion Having to pull the cab to change injectors is a design flaw on fords part. But overall I have found that the 2005 and later cars and trucks have been the eaisiest to maintain and work on and anything from the 80’s and 90’s to be the worst.
The idea is to catch the problems early when a code is thrown so you can correct it before something worse tears up.
Do you really want to go back to points and carburetors?
New vehicles are easier to work on.
I have a 2015 F150 and it is a lot easier to work on than my 93 ever was. You do have to use a computer but forscan is free and if you have the computer skills to get a wireless printer to work then you can fix your ford.
All terrain campers said they did not have a model that would fit my 5.5 foot bed truck and a 4wc shell is close to 15k out the door new.
I have been so slammed with work this year I have not had a chance to really get started on the build. If business stays at this level the rest of the year...
I have a smittybilt tent I use on a leer top. It works good. Tent lives in my gArage Takes about 20 minutes to put it on the top.
You will not notice the weight of the tent on an F150.
