    Propane questions

Yeah something is funny with the links try searching for "High-Pressure Propane Tank Adapter Hose,1lb to 20lb" Be aware you are running 300psi propane through the hose vs. the 0.5PSI for a propane fire pit. Over time the crimp connection at the hose will start to leak so keep an eye on it.

Probably the best steps I have ever seen

Touching / Not touching ....it depends - How much does the vehicle shake when (one person is trying to sleep) the steps are used. - Further away from the wheels needs to accommodate a greater height difference. Inside we have 36" long grab handle (used the most.....3 points of contact) and a...

    90's vs. 2000's Unimog Parts

I've been shopping for a Doka (I'm too tall for the a single cab) Unimog and been offered models from 1992 to 2007 (latest year that can be imported into Canada). What is parts availability for Unimogs? If there a premium on one vs. the other?

    1120 AF Build in Norway

It depends on the experiences you've had and how the leads are secured. This is the inside of a EG4 server rack battery. Note the welded to the terminals. Here's a Battle Born with hot glue

When buying from a trading company one should know they will want to ship what they have which might not be what you order. Lithium battery mfg in China don't finish the terminals. It is done by a reseller who buys 10,000's of cells at a time. Trading companies don't have the $$ to buy 10,000...

    1120 AF Build in Norway

I've never seen Zinc plated lugs before. All I've ever (30 years) used is tin plated. Not sure if I've missed zinc or it's something new. The zinc lugs are from Spectro and they all have different markings. Maybe the zinc plating isn't done by the lug mfg. Over the years I've been sold alum...

    DC to DC Chargers

Looks like the alternator has a machined alum body. Very nice. Who makes it? When I can't get the right size pulley I find something with a smaller bore (or blind bore) so I can bore it and broach the keyway........20 years ago one could get it done for a case of beer. There use to be as many...

    1120 AF Build in Norway

I've worked with alum for decades and something I'd never do is put aluminum and bare copper together. I believe crimping is the only UL/CSA approved CU/AL connection method now. https://inspectapedia.com/aluminum/Aluminum-Wiring-Repair-US-CPSC-Pub-516.php Alum bars and/or tin plated lugs is...

    DC to DC Chargers

Did you check if the alternator is running below 250F / 120C at FLA. It can go over that but will wear out faster.

Surprised to see bare copper. Are the battery terminals aluminum? .....and fuses on the BMS wires?

Truth about Lead Acid Battery Capacity

During my 30 days in the woods I spent a considerable amount of time trying to bring the FLA up to 100%. Each day the generator was running in float for 1-2 hours. I just spent the last 4 days equalizing them and did a load test this morning. All it took was 210Ah to get down to 12.0V on a 4yo...

    Custom Extrusions for FRP Panels

There's no need for 6061. Custom shapes can be made from 5052 or 5086 alum. easier than stainless. .

    Custom Extrusions for FRP Panels

Sorry but where are you getting this info about aluminum from? - with FRP and aluminum you are stuck with the extruded angles you can get - Strong aluminum doesn't have the ductility to bend - Aluminum and pultruded FRP are fine if 90 degree angles Please check your source because it's not true.

    Custom Extrusions for FRP Panels

For something like this I'd want a proven bonding system that is used in production. No reason to be stuck with aluminum. Sheet/Plate/Extrusions are easier to fabricated vs. stainless. I'd have an alum tub/pipe protecting the corners of the truck and camper box from trees

    Custom Extrusions for FRP Panels

Finding a tried and true method to bond SS would be my worry. FRF outside and alum inside would reduce the cost. To reduce expansion shorter sections of aluminums can be used. https://www.eplastics.com/fiberglass/profiles/equal-leg-angle/Pultruded-Fiberglass-Profile-525ELA4-000X-250 The...
