    Charging Both Ways

I would classify it sort of like recovery gear. You hope to never have to use it but glad it is there if you do. You are correct, my main goal would be to help prime the engine if it ever becomes air bound. On the sailboat we used to travel on I had a system with a large lift pump with dual...

    Charging Both Ways

My planned use of the habitat to starter charger is only occasional (for the start battery I have a remote battery cutoff switch so if we are parked for a bit I disconnect so the parasitic drain/discharge on the batteries is very small). It is more if we leave the truck unattended or need a...

    Charging Both Ways

Yup, I have thought of doing the same. Still on the fence though on which way to go but I am considering a waterproof switch next to the remote engine start button. Also saw on the newer LN2's there is a remote engine stop switch next to the start switch. Wonder how difficult it would be to...

    Charging Both Ways

Well, it has been a while for this project to be completed but it is now finished. There was a shipping delay right before we headed to Baja last fall so I was missing the Victron 12v to 24v DC to DC charger. Well we just arrived in Idaho and it was here waiting for us. So now we have 2 Victron...

    LN2 Diff skid plates

Hey, I think you can still order the factory ones. I looked into doing it but it is still on my wishlist. Mercedes Truck A3603300083 for the best price - 117.07 EUR - WoxParts

    Mercedes Overland Building/Tuning

Pretty sure ours doesn't engage automatically when I lift off the throttle. There is an air hose to a small cylinder near the injector pump. I am assuming it is what is pressurized (along with the exhaust brake cylinder which is just below the turbo dump pipe) to cut the fuel when the button on...

    Mercedes Overland Building/Tuning

@jaleel_da_sheik has an 1120 with the auto tranny. He may have some advice for you. I have read that at times the auto can shift a bit hard, but have also read it can be adjusted by someone that knows what they are doing. There is a thread on the LN2 forum about it.

    Entry Door and Roof Windows

We took the plunge and ordered a couple of replacement roof windows from WideBird in the Netherlands. I chose them because they manufacture a hatch that will drop right in the same cutout as the Tern roof window. Plus they offered a powder coated trim ring all in RAL 9016. Add in roller blinds...

Windshield for an LN2 in the USA

And the new Freightliner windshield popped right in! It does have a bit of a black band at the bottom of the window (you can see it in the picture). I can only imagine it was because the Freightliner's hood was above the bottom of the windshield. No problem though as it is behind our dash. It...

DIY GuzzleH2O (fill tanks from stream)

Yes, it is completed. We used it a little in Baja for filling from untreated water taps (though we mostly bought purified water which is easy to get). We're heading to Alaska this summer and think we may be able to use it to pull from streams. Not sure though as we have never been :) . Current...

MB 1120 Coming to America! Purchase, Build and Now Travel!

Will do Brian, should be in McCall second week of April. With any luck a few of the projects will already be finished! The turbo has worked perfectly, a bit more pull in lower revs. Just need to screw up the courage to adjust the injection pump to get a bit more fuel.

MB 1120 Coming to America! Purchase, Build and Now Travel!

Jeez, been a while since I have done an update. We have left Baja and are moving north towards Oregon/Idaho. April will be a bit busy with truck projects, one of the biggest is replacing our current plastic roof windows with some fancy new glass/aluminum ones from WideBird. Also the new...

Parts and service for MB SK platform

Ok, so here is my 2 cents living with our 1988 1120AF in the USA. 1. Make sure you have access to the EPC so you can look up your own part numbers 2. Be prepared to have to pay for shipping from Europe, I get parts from a few different places. Both the German and UK eBays, WoxParts in Latvia...

Windshield for an LN2 in the USA

Not sure, but I would think no. I am pretty sure the NG cabs are a bit larger than the LN2. Not sure if Freightliner also used the NG cab in a different truck like they did with the LN2. If this works out then I got pretty lucky.

Windshield for an LN2 in the USA

Quick update, I think I have figured out how to source the windshield for the FLC-112 (the Freightliner with the LN2 cab). They are available and cheap as chips ($170) in the USA. I just need to try and verify measurements before I order. There is even one a couple hours away from my sister...

Windshield for an LN2 in the USA

And if you squint a bit you can see the LN2 in there... on the Freightliner FLC-112 :p . Another possible source for a windshield. Have to say the truck looks much better without that massive hood. I got this info from the LN2 forum. Also have found a very resourceful and helpful MB car parts...

Windshield for an LN2 in the USA

So I think I may already know the answer to this question, but does anyone know where to get a windshield for a LN2 in the USA? From Europe the shipping for a $300 windshield is about $1400...

    1120 AF Build in Norway

From my very limited understanding the fronts are the only ones (they need 600 grams of grease). The rears are lubricated with the axle oil. I should be working on ours in about a month and a half once we get to Oregon. I have ordered a special socket from Germany that is needed to get the hubs...

    1120 AF Build in Norway

Good work, we filled the various holes in our dash with a polyester filler. Then sprayed it all with rattle can SEM brand rattle can paint. The black is a very good match to the Mercedes black. Maybe with your drums off you should give the wheel bearings a look (then you can tell me how to do it...

    Brake Linings in the PNW

Hey all, I seem to remember someone getting their brake linings redone somewhere in the PNW, Oregon would be the best as this is where I would do the work (and possibly drums turned if required). Any chance it was someone on this board and if so can you point me in the right direction? Not sure...
