Buying a Warn, I would assume Super Winch, maybe Ramsey I would feel more confident that years down the line if my winch needs parts they are more likely to be available then if you bought one of the new to market brands.
If you have a good RF ground you would be fine on a rack, tire carrier or whatever. The OP stated he didn't want to drill holes and was using a magnetic antenna. The post is titled rack mount options. A magnetic antenna will not perform as well as it could stuck on a rack that is not properly...
A little late but here is my take on it: If you want to have the same winch for a while I would go Warn. Even though they have a series made in China and possible other parts in their other winches made in China, and who knows where else, and even a Warn Plant in Mexico that makes Warn product...
What ever you mount your antenna to becomes the other half of th the antenna. High and center on you vehicle and to bare metal is best. Everything else is a compromise, but life is filled with compromises. Mounting to things that mount to the body, such as a rack, will never deliever top...
The specters do work great, I used them allot while in the Army. I had a tenant (Marine) that left me a couple of them when he moved out. I need a top for one of them.

I ran a K40 for a while. It is about your best option (or the wilson) unless you go with a perm mount. It will perform FAR better than a no ground plane antenna.
I have posted a few times here already. I am new to overlanding, doing my first run later this month with my son. My experience has been with run trails but never overlanding and looking forward to it. My jeep itself is fairly well set up for offroading so but know I need to look at taking...

I didn't realize the JKs had all that. I have seen a few and the ones I had seen didn't have all those options. The system on the GC that would concern me is the suspension system, not just the IFS but the system that adjusts the suspension.
Pulled all the carpet out of my TJ so I could have easier access to the drain plugs.
I also raised the transmission / Transfer case breather a few inches.
I have been off-roading for a while but new to this overland thing, in fact so new that my first overland adventure won't be until the end of this month. When I read up on overlanding the issues that come up over and over and over are dependability and maintainability. The GC has allot of...
Allot of people put FAR more thought into this than needed. The most important part of the CB is the cable, antenna and how it is mounted. Buy all this new. When you mount you antenna you need to have a good radio frequency ground. Whatever you ground your antenna to becomes half the...
