Lets See Your Fold Down Tables!

My table is stored inside next to the fridge and hangs from the roof rack ladder using a cord tied off to the roof rack. It sets up in under 30 seconds. I could easily make it larger but this is about the right size for making a trail side lunch.

Where to get big Pelican cases?

Lavonia is way the heck up at the NE corner of Georgia just east of I-85 two exits before South Carrolina -1- 1/2 hours away from I-285 - I did some surveying work there in the 1970's I use Roswell hardware pretty regularly - live about two miles west of it. I had no idea it was a DIB store...

    Series 1 Disco Engine Swap?

The 3.9 is a good engine with a mild camshaft upgrade and a Mallory distributor - no powerhouse but it will get you there pretty reliably if you pay close attention to the cooling system. I've known many 3.9 equipped trucks to get past the 200,000 mile mark. On Defender source there is a thread...

Where to get big Pelican cases?

B&H Photo in New York has some of the best prices for Pelican cases I've seen. Beam Distributing in Virginia is one of the largest stocking distributors for Pelican Products this side of the Mississippi - nice folks too. Beam Distributing, Inc. Phone: 804-440-6489 Jessica Lienemann...

To LR4 from JKUR? Need advice...

Interior color and trim level is a big factor as well - you just have to be patient and wait for the right car to come along. I wanted an HSE for the heated seats and upgraded stereo and my first preference was for "Expedition White". I did not want to be staring at a sea of beige every time I...

To LR4 from JKUR? Need advice...

Tan interior - ugh.... I have a white/black LR3 - much more better Silver/black is a pretty good looking combination as well - my friend Tyrone bought this one 14 hours before he took it on a trail ride in North Georgia.

    1971 IIA Dormobile

Not to be too picky but that's a 1971 - last year of the SIIA with the metal dash and metal grill. The 1972 Land Rovers were the first of the Series III with the plastic dash, plastic grill and all synchro transmission. Its relatively easy to retrofit the SIII transmission into the SIIA and is...

    Flashlight flavor of the month

Both of youze guys are bad influences - I went to Costco today to pick up some LED shop lights and saw that 1000 lumen flashlight - somehow it wound up in the cart too....

To LR4 from JKUR? Need advice...

A friend of mine bought this 2006 LR3 around 8:00 PM Monday night - 14 hours later he was participating in a trail ride in North Georgia on street tires in a completely stock vehicle. It has about 87K miles on it and he got it for just over $14,000 - it's the HSE model with the rear locker...

    WOW, my first Land Rover

Good idea for a thread - I'll join in with my first Land Rover - a 1961 Series II that I bought in 1972. It had a very rusty frame and a Ford 260 ci V-8 under the hood so it was capable of very Un-Rover like acceleration. I kept it for about two years and then sold it and bought this 1967...

Who makes the very best white gas stoves and lanterns?

I've got a 1972 Coleman model 220F dual mantle lantern that's a little beat up but it still works like a champ - you can't kill it. However I managed to snag a US Army issue Thermos brand Vietnam era single mantle lantern at a yard sale about two years ago that is a monster. It's OD and built...

The OFFICIAL Overland Expo EAST 2014 Thread!

There is a real story to that Buick - maybe we can get together around a fire and I'll tell about our adventure doing the Pan-American Highway with a few detours in a Buick deuce-and-a-quarter all the way to the Panama Canal Zone in 1974. There were breakdowns, scary moments, adventures, border...

The OFFICIAL Overland Expo EAST 2014 Thread!

One of the classes is a regional Q/A on Mexico and Guatemala - I've driven to Panama from Georgia but it was in 1974. We went through Guatemala and Lake Atitlan in a 1966 Buick 225 but things have changed a lot since then. I've signed up for the class just to get some updated information...
