1993 Land Rover NAS Defender 110 Original Owner was Oprah Winfrey

Wow. I remember when they were 38K new, and weren't selling all that great at that price, either. I bet Oprah took it out for one drive, and never touched it again.

    Flashlights

I've been carrying a Foursevens Mini ML-X for about 2 years now as my EDC flashlight in my pocket. It's flat-out amazing how much I reach for it, now that I've gotten used to having a light on me at all times. http://www.foursevens.com/products/ML-X-AE It does use CR123 batteries, but I had...

    Suzuki samurai, zuki people help!

I've owned 3 Sami's, and while I like to hang stuff them as much as the next person, the fact is they are pretty dang capable in stock form. As someone said, the first priority to the freshen everything that's worn. Belts, oil, u-joints, exhaust, hoses. Beyond that, the bigger gas tank would be...

KiraVan - The Most Insane Truck Ever Built

I think it's great. And after the Maxi-Mog he did awhile back, I can see where this one didn't fall far from the tree. After all, he's got a kid now... It's funny, and cool, to see what lengths we will go to for our kids, no matter where you fall on the income slider. I hope he keeps at it. The...

Man, those Aussies know a thing or two about pulling trailers thru the bush. That's impressive!

    Gas storage recommendations

Years ago, I listened to my dad complain abut the high cost of gas along the river; fueling your boat at a marina was often 1-2 dollars per gallon higher than in town. So he bought a fuel dolly similar to this (...

    1988 Samurai Tin Top.

Oh yeah! I see it now. That should help alot. I didn't think you could get something to swing if the hinge points had different vertical axes. Goes to show how much I know...

    1988 Samurai Tin Top.

Love the tin top... I REALLY gotta get mine put together one of these days, but then again, I'm hardly driving my soft top until I get the death wobble fixed. Anyway, I'm a bit worried about your swing carrier. Not sure how it's fabbed, but I see the rear stock bumper in place, and I know they...

    1979 Suzuki LJ81 "Micro-Overlander"

man, I love that thing! I'm on my 4th Samurai; guess I love tiny underpowered trucks... Coolest vehicle I've seen on Expo in awhile. I subscribe to the simple/stock/minimal approach as well. Eager to see where this project goes.

InssssssssVANity!!!!!!!......or ****** did I just fly to Maine to by a Sprinter!

Cole, one thing to consider with the kid seat thing is the height of the seat. We have a Westfalia Sprinter, which is pretty much the only Sprinter camper conversion with a bench seat behind the two front seats, which I wanted so that we could put our daughter's car seat in it. One thing that...

InssssssssVANity!!!!!!!......or ****** did I just fly to Maine to by a Sprinter!

Cool van... first dual slider I've ever seen. I'f I had seen this thread earlier, I would've invited you to stop along I-95 in CT; I have a "DAD", and could've run a diagnostic report for ya (I have a 2005 Sprinter Westfalia; awesome layout). Looking forward to seeing what you have in mind.

    Jerry Can Tool Storage

Always thought that was a novelty item; otherwise, why would they make it look like a jerry can, complete with fake cap? The idea of an external tool box might have some merit, but were I to fill it with tools, it would probably weigh a ton, and therefore, not sure I would trust it in a jerry...

Cargo Boxes - Why you do. Why you don't

Vaguely. I contacted a shop that fabs aluminum boxes to your specs, including gauge thickness. He estimated a box 24"L x 12"H x 24"W could come in at around 10 pounds empty, depending on thickness, hinge selection, and latch hardware. I've yet to finalize the dimensions. I'll probably have a...

Cargo Boxes - Why you do. Why you don't

I have my Thule Atlantis 1800 on my 100 LC. The thing I love about that box is that the mounting system is super fast; the clamshell grips down on the crossbars pretty tight. It pretty much rides up there all year long. I generally only put the lighter, softer stuff up there; sleeping bags...

    ignition disabler switch

I always thought it would be handy to have one of those old headlight foot-operated switches connected to a timer. That way if your truck got jacked, you'd hit the switch on the way out, sight unseen, and the bandits could get away from you in the truck... ...for about a mile.
