2000 Suburban K1500 budget low lift with 37"s

Fried wheel bearing. After a day of cooling down I finally jacked up the truck and was amazed by the wheel wobble. Wheel removed and the scorching on the rotor rubbing on the brake pad and brake caliper bracket was very substantial. Angle of the brake pad when the wheel tilted after...

2000 Suburban K1500 budget low lift with 37"s

Rayra, I took my front diff skid plate off to save a little weight, never had that clunk in the GMT800. U-joints are over rated. I say just keep them in your glove box as well as a wrench and a socket to replace them if they fail on the trail. Hopefully you can figure out where that...

2000 Suburban K1500 budget low lift with 37"s

Rayra, Yes I did the GMT900 front brake conversion, it works well, extra gripping force is welcome and fade is gone especially if I ride my brakes with a trailer dropping 5-6,000ft in 15-20 miles. Much better than before, not as good as hydroboost which I will most likely never go to in this...

Rayra, So I heard a similar sound around a year ago, I did mention something in one of my write ups and in February 2019 you posted your video. I was too lazy or too scared or just forgot to check the play in my hub. I had grinding and scary loud noises from my front left wheel for over a...

Finally had some time to play with the Avi. Got the Avalanche started, drained the fuel and put 5 gallons of new fuel. Fired right up but ran rough. I'm sure it will need spark plugs and an oil change for it to run smooth, but that's a project for another day. Time to start taking it apart...

    Christmas Came Early!

So you just stole a 5.7L 2500 Sub with G80 and 4.10 gears from some poor sole that babied this precious unicorn. That's an early Christmas present indeed. Strong work!

XJLI, I have an LS trim Sub, with 92D cloth seat RPO code, but it looks like the previous owner replaced the seats with LT leather seats with 8 way power seats, lumbar support and upper cushion wings that cradle you like a race car. Drivers seat looks like it's wired in correctly but I have had...

4BT, Not familiar with what normal Avi seats are supposed to look like, but here are some pics of the North Face editions seats. Front Passenger seat. Back of front passenger seat. Plastic clips is where the North Face back packs clipped into. Back seat. Front passenger seat is 100%...

2000 Suburban K1500 budget low lift with 37"s

dirtdobberoffroad, Yeah, it's weird out here. Junk yards pay $100-125 per vehicle when you scrap them but subtract what ever they feel is fair if they tow them. SO people will sell junkers that will not pass inspection for $200-500. Some ambitions people will strip some easy parts to make some...

2000 Suburban K1500 budget low lift with 37"s

Chilli, Haha, yes. You know me too well. I was thinking of puling the front diff, running a 3" spindles, and 40s. pre-runner with 2wd high and 2wd low. But now that you mention 44s, I might just have to find a set. Highly doubt that that project will take place until this summer, but you never...

2000 Suburban K1500 budget low lift with 37"s

Moving the Avalanche When I bought the Suburban I never dreamed of putting 37" tires on it and running it in the desert with my kids. Now that I am in Maine I still drive it daily but never in my wildest dreams did I think that I would use it as a yard truck or tractor, but times and needs...

2000 Suburban K1500 budget low lift with 37"s

XJLI, Yeah, the bumper brackets are the only part that requires cutting and welding. But I have a body lift and the bumper relocation brackets that came with it give me many more mounting options that do not require as much custom fabrication. In either case, I am very excited to get started...

Cheaper than junk yard parts! All ya'll know that I'm super cheap or low budget. And finally I think I have reached a new low, out pricing eBay and the junk yard. Over the last few years of straight up abuse I have destroyed parts of the truck that no GM engineer ever though as wearable parts...

Family of 5 trying to figure things out.

Air Opus is a fantastic looking trailer, however for the $20K they run seem too expensive and impractical. It's off-roadability looks unbeatable mostly due to the weight or lack there of. Have you had a chance to inflate and deflate it in rain, snow, or winds higher than 20mph? Doesn't seem like...

Pics look great. Key for our trucks off road when the going gets tough is 4x4 low and 1st gear, do not use any other gears, that will prolong the life of the tranny. Also check to see if you have the factory tranny cooler, that helps a lot.

hillslayer12, Your truck looks fantastic. Tahoe with 35s is very proportional and 4.10s will get you just about anywhere you will ever dare take it. Have more than enough room on the roof and in the box to keep the inside clear fro the bed. I am glad I was able to inspire you to build a...

    Suburban vs silverado 2500hd?

I am talking about two adults and two kids. My wife and I sleep on a full size mattress in the back and the two kids sleep on the make shift beds that are where the middle row is. Driver and passenger seat do not recline far enough back for me to ever sleep comfortably in them, it was bearable...
