Sounds like most have a built in pad, I didn't realize that. Does your sleeping gear stay dry if you fold the tent up in the morning when its dewy or wet? I only spent 9 nights on the ground last year. I'm hoping to increase that this season. I'm not sure a RTT is right for me yet.

I'd like to hear from some owners as to what are the pros and cons of vehicle top tents. I've never used one. I'm guessing they would be great for very wet areas but would seem to be heavier and smaller than a conventional tent?

I've had really good luck with a moulded white plastic card table from Sams Club. It is ~33" square. with the legs folded it is ~2.25 high. In my wrangler, it fits perfectly on the floor b/t the wheel wheels, so it goes in first and everything gets piled on top of it. It seems indestructable...
