Thanks Tony! I stumbled across your build thread this morning after some additional searching. If you would not mind, I do have one question. These SpaceKaps supposedly have insulated, double-walled shells. Can you comment on their insulation? Is it a foam sandwich? Just reflectix?
I'm very interested in doing something similar myself. Which vendor did you order from (Maranda, SpaceKap, Tufport, etc.) in the end? How have things turned out?
Apologies, I had forgotten about this posting. Here is my current pick I am planning on doing later this Summer:
2018 Ford F-150 Regular Cab 4x4 with 8 foot Bed (Large gas tank, skid plates, rear view camera, etc.)
Install a Breezer Window with Passthrough Boot...
Huh, I was able to order the covers directly for the patriot as an option. I like my powerhouse (also got it on sale), but I would agree goal zero would be better particularly if you are tying in solar.
As for my RTT, I have an Autohome Columbus Small XL (I'm 6'2" so extra long was mandatory...
Sure thing. Here are the seat covers:

I have really enjoyed them. They look good, still feel comfortable, and can take a lot of abuse to protect the upholstery
The powerhouse has been great to keep things charged over...
Well there you go! Definitely, see if they made plans and dimensions for it. If they cannot help and you can do the fab yourself, I can post some closeups of the hatch ladder.
Glad to see there are folks out there showing the Pat(riot) some love. I have really enjoyed mine a lot but am upgrading to full size truck camper in the near future. My rig is up for sale on here...
Thanks! It has really served me well. To any continued onlookers, I just had the 30k mile maintence completed today and replaced the original Wrangler SRA tires with Yokohama Geolanders which are very nice. I’m in no particular hurry to sell this Summer now, but I have decided on my next rig...
Thanks everyone. I am definitely seeing a truck camper theme developing. Out of the currently pickup truck offerings, what do folks like for flatbed conversion options, solid payload, good pricing? I'm thinking of mounting a total composites shell on a flatbed pickup truck. Seems like the...
Wow...that does not exactly inspire confidence. So you wouldn't recommend just buying one and dropping a prefab 13' Total Composites box on the back at the moment, lol? I'm not planning on "pushing the limit" offroad, but a big comfortable 4x4 camper. It does sounds like 4x4 is an option...
I've been on the fence about getting a FUSO as the base vehicle for my new expedition camper (mostly due to post-2007 diesel emissions system problem and transmission issues). Yesterday, I found out that they are making a gas engine version now for the 2019 model year which is also supposed be...
Hello All-
I have spent a great deal of time and research this past year looking at all the available options in the U.S. market for a suitable platform for a small and reasonably capable expedition camper with following features:
1. Reliability, ease of finding maintenance, and readily...
Thanks Dotar! By "more work", do you mean one cannot simply unbolt it now? Unlike the initial poster, I am not worried about keeping easy compatibility with the factory roof.
Just to let folks know, I spoke with rock hard 4x4, and they said they will be starting R&D on JL cage parts sometime this summer if any one want to try to replicate this setup on a JL.
I have heard that Ursa Minor are currently taking preorders for August 2018 deliveries for the JL I think. Very nice piece of kit, but I will be going custom on the camper. I currently run an Autohome Columbus with a rear mounted hatch ladder which would feel very similar to an Ursa Minor...
I'm planning on doing a similar camper build on an unlimited myself. Out of curiosity, does anyone here know if the rear crossbar can be similarly unbolted on the new JL? I might be content to just leave the brackets on to avoid voiding the warranty and use the rockhard 3rd row sport bar...
If I was handy enough to service these myself and didn't mind giving up modern safety features, what a dream machine and out here in CA to boot! Good luck on your sale and fair price!
