Can you share more on the truck? Fleet truck, rental? Interesting that you got a used low mile chassis with no platform on the back. Any decisions on suspension?
As these systems become more integrated, such as adaptive cruise control, I can see a vehicle applying the brakes and steering the vehicle if the TPMS sensed a rapid loss of air pressure. Maybe take a slow cruise in a big open space and test your setup once you build it.
On the bit about motion. At least on larger vehicles like a class A RV or coach that has a tag axle the system accounts for lack of motion on the tag axle. I suppose it just depends on the coding in your system?
Do you plan on having onboard air? Two tanks rated at say @100 psi, install one sensor in each tank. However do the sensors also detect motion? So while driving the 4 sensors are in motion and the other two are stationary? Just spitballing here.
So for your current build on the RAM, would you use this exact same design for a full size p/u? I realize there are different considerations for access to the camper on say a slide in rear entry vs. a flatbed side entry. And you can still tow with this setup, at least in the 5000 - 10000 lbs. range?
Really nice looking work. Did you also design a ramp to integrate with it, or just any generic ramp? From the previous picture with the GS loaded, looks like it might be a handful loading and unloading solo? Watching your RAM build, really really nice work.
Yes the conversion rate as of now does favor the southern cousins. Be prepared if you do go to BAT, seems it can be like walking into a buzzsaw. :) Walkaround video, check. Cold start video, check. Driving video, check. 100+ pictures, check. Pictures of vehicle underneath while on a lift, check...
Is this strictly to communicate amongst the convoy and on the trail, or any interest in talking to someone 500-5000 miles away sitting around the campfire?
Look at the AARL site for good info on taking the two written test needed to get VHF/UHF and HF. They produce good test books and even have...
:) Yeah but 7.3 man:)
I have always bought used, in this case though with eventually going full time the 2020+ F350 SRW Super Cab with that 7.3 is calling me...
Same thoughts on gearing, especially with say 35's, maybe even 37's max. And maybe a few Carli add on's.
Simple video comparing the 2020 Ford 6.7 vs 7.3 under the hood. That 6.7 takes up all the space and then some. Just does not lend itself to easy self done or worse on the trail repair. The 7.3 engine bay seems huge in comparison, lots of room to do your own work.
If today you were shopping for a 2020 Super Duty and had a choice of your current drivetrain or going to the 7.3 which is about a $1700 upcharge and the new 10 speed transmission, would you even consider it or stick with the 6.2?
