DC to DC Charging for LifePO4 battery bank.

Couple of comments: -- I was thinking of a battery inside the actual pickup bed, under the sleeping bed. There are batteries, like Battle Born's "Gamechanger", that come with mounting tabs which would make this very easy. You could cobble up a plywood (or similar) box as the base for your...

DC to DC Charging for LifePO4 battery bank.

Probably much more geek than dbhost wants but: -- All chargers have a "profile", even a constant voltage/constant current is, technically, a profile, especially if the charger has a logic to shut itself off automatically. -- Many (most?) lithium gurus preach that lithium batteries don't need...

DC to DC Charging for LifePO4 battery bank.

Sorry, getting ready for OEXPO East but, at 120 kph: -- There is little if any difference between the "profile" for lithium ion and iron. Indeed, there is really little profile for lithium at all. Most call for a constant voltage/constant current charge at the target voltage and a complete shut...

DC to DC Charging for LifePO4 battery bank.

Not talking lithium ion, but lithium iron. I was thinking Battle Born, Lithionics, or similar. Your choice. (FWIW, you probably can't buy a lithium ion battery in a standard sized case. Something like this would be very easy...

DC to DC Charging for LifePO4 battery bank.

20A is so low, it almost doesn't matter what profile you use. All of their voltages are way high, but they is how they compensate for the low output. You should be fine. (This does not look like the greatest bit of kit, but it should work.) Drop in two 100 Ah Lithium camper batteries, or one of...

Getting power to / in the camper. Sizing things up right.

This may help: https://cookfb.files.wordpress.com/2016/09/plan-electrical-system.pdf Instant gratification: Put your B2B to a gel profile and get a "drop in" lithium iron battery. Simply no reason to use lead acid these days. But you really need to sit down and do a careful plan. (Or come to...

    Pb vs. LiFePO voltage sag

Sag is, of course, a function of load, battery size, installation (as you noted), and yes, battery chemistry. Assuming that the BMS on you lithium iron battery will pass the required amps, you will see less sag. And, you will almost certainly be starting from a higher resting voltage, as well...

Only AUX batteries getting charged, OEM batteries are not

Based on some youthful failures, I hate, loathe, and despise diode isolators. (Voltage drop, fatal for lead acid, is but one reason.) This is older, but still valid for lead acid:https://cookfb.files.wordpress.com/2016/09/dual-battery-slides-2016.pdf Hope it is helpful.

Only AUX batteries getting charged, OEM batteries are not

Snarky advice may be worth a bit more than you pay for it. So here goes: Unless I very much miss my guess, that is a diode isolator with a starter battery sense wire. There are much, much better ways to isolate batteries - either an intelligent relay if you are using lead acid or a battery to...

    Help Shipping Expedition DAF

IVSS is backed up and slow to answer. I have dealt with a gentleman named Martin. He recommends that I reach out 90 - 100 days before I actually want to ship.

    Help Shipping Expedition DAF

IVSS are among the few that actually talk about motorhomes/expedition vehicles etc. Another option is Seabridge.DE, but they are focused on someone who will be taking their own truck to the port. (I am guessing that you are buying remotely.) I was struck that someone reached out to IVSS to ship...

Does Anyone Actually Use Their House Water for Drinking?

All the time and for years and in two campers. We bleach at the start of the season and run all water though a big 3M filter. We only take water from reasonable sources, e.g., our own house and, usually, commercial campgrounds. Never been sick on the road.

    MB Truck vs Unimog

Probably merits a new thread, but after a year or two with a 12v camper A/C in 100F+ temperatures, I will be happy to tell you why I will probably be buying a Houghton rooftop unit and why building anew, I might well go back to a window unit like I had on the Tiger.

    Solar + Gas Generator Charging?

Look them up. An inverter/charger performs two functions: -- Inverts 12v to make 110v, and -- Takes 110v and charges 12v batteries. Or 220v or 24v, etc.

    Solar + Gas Generator Charging?

Assuming that you have a converter or inverter/charger (generally better option) then a portable genset is no different than a built in genset or shore power - in other words, a Honda or any other genset will work.

    Smart Solenoid for Lithium battery?

There are two potential issues: — The charging voltage of your vehicle may be a bit high for a lithium battery, but this is probably not a real world issue depending on how long you drive and assuming a decent BMS as a fail safe. — The connect voltage of the National Luna VSR is probably too...

Bliss Mobil - Base Vehicle Advice

Thousands of electrons die horrible deaths debating the best vehicle for worldwide travel. With the possible exception of a naturally aspirated Toyota HiLux with split rims and 750x16 tires, it doesn't exist. I drove a Chevrolet Blazer in Africa and South America. I simply assumed that I would...
