Man I wish everybody hated 200 series Land Cruisers.. Then maybe I could pick one up before it's approaching 20 years of age and half a million miles :bike_rider:
My wife (girlfriend at the time) actually talked me into saving my 79 Hilux back in 03. It was bone stock and my dad purchased the truck from a neighbor a year prior. It barely ran on top of needing a lot of work. He called me up one day and said 'it's going to the scrap yard unless you come...
Bummer. I enjoyed watching the build what a nice rig! It reminded me of what I plan to do 20 years from now when I can finally afford to buy a 200 series with a half million miles
Absolutely. I drove mine everywhere from the bottom of Utah to the top of Montana every chance I had before I had kids (and a decent camera :o). The 20R is an incredible engine in terms of reliability however the power will likely let you down when loaded with gear. I used a 5.29 axle gear...
I think the stove, heater, fridge etc are some of the the best parts of campers so I personally wouldn't gut any of that out. Alaskans are very heavy no way around it the good part is most of that weight comes from how well built and sturdy they are. Looks nice inside and a lot of potential...

For one I think you have a great rig for just about anything you can throw at it. I had a coil pack go bad in my 100 series and it went from intermittent misfire to total failure in about 30 miles. Because this seems like a fairly common issue (and there are 8 of them) I would recommend buying...
So parents have been making their way through Oregon over the last few days in route to the coastal highway. They sent me a picture text today saying "Check out this sweet truck with alaskan camper! thought you'd like it!" Sure enough it was Carlyle's rig :bike_rider:
Nope not me. Cut and past what Larry said.
$50,000 dollars would take me a lot of places. A GM dealership would not be one of those places :coffeedrink:
Those Getrags have had a bad reputation for a long time. I had one in my 92 and it didn't give me too much trouble other than popping out of 2nd gear once in awhile. Overfilling them by one quart and keeping the fluid changed often has proven to be a great idea. I personally don't think they...
