Toilet Solution for LONG TERM Overlanding trips

Those of us who grew up in the Third World have been giving stool samples since we were children. One's aim improves with age.

Toilet Solution for LONG TERM Overlanding trips

Why on earth could you not use a composting toilet in a park? Shovels are really hard to use in the middle of towns - we're talking long term overloading, not camping in the woods.

Adjusting the idle on a OM366LA

There are probably ways to set the absolute idle, but, at least ad interim, use the hand throttle on the steering column.

    MB Truck Exhaust Route

If you mean a knurled knob on the right side of the steering column, it is a hand throttle. But you have to use the foot throttle to set the speed and then you can hold it by twisting the knob. Mine was a fire truck and you might want to raise the idle to run the water pump. Might also be useful...

    MB Truck Exhaust Route

Amen! Agreed. Had I seen Cloud 9 before our truck was built, I would have gone with hydronic heat/hot water, if only for engine preheat. Now, if I can ever find an Espar dealer to tell me which bits to buy, we are going to fit an engine preheat. Beloved Spouse is REALLY embarrassed by the...

Dual Battery System with CTEK D250 not charging battery over 12 volts.

Not clear that the PM worked. https://diplostrat.org/documents/ Read all you wish, but specifically: -- Watts Up? -- Charging Up? -- Doubling Up? And in that order. Hope this helps!

    MB Truck Exhaust Route

While I suspect that any big truck exhaust shop can help, if you have an old MB in North America, you need to talk to Rob Pickering. http://www.terryleeenterprises.com

Order of Operations (What should I buy first?)

VERY good advice. And remember, talent is more important than tools. Look at all of the pro photographers who post blogs of stunning cell phone only shots. Your eye matters more than your toys. (But do learn how to use them to get the images you want.)

DC-DC charger or ACR for sprinter build house batteries, and Lifeline vendor recommendations

The CETEK D250S/SmartPass has a provision to maintain the starter battery. You can also use an AMP-L-START. http://www.lslproducts.net/ALS_Overview_Page.html (AM Solar has started using these with some of their LiFePO4 setups.) The utility of maintaining your starter battery from your camper...

DC-DC charger or ACR for sprinter build house batteries, and Lifeline vendor recommendations

I actually run a variation of this - you need two relays, one of which is single throw/double pole.

What do I think? I am the charter member of the you-don't-need-a-B2B club. What I think can be found here: https://cookfb.files.wordpress.com/2016/09/battery-charge-slides.pdf Read it and then decide for yourself.

    DC-DC battery charger under hood?

Can't speak to Ford or RAM, but Chevrolet includes starter battery temperature sensing in their regulation system. The challenge for most of us is that our starter batteries are hotter than the camper batteries. My old Mercedes truck does not measure battery temperature. (But then it barely has...

    DC-DC battery charger under hood?

    Travel trailer battery/generator use.

If I were spending money on new gear, I would not buy Progressive Dynamics - there are brands that I like better, but YMMV. To your other question, it depends. On what? Read here: https://cookfb.files.wordpress.com/2016/09/battery-charge-slides.pdf Nobody wants to read a massive tome, but the...

    Travel trailer battery/generator use.

Caveat: I do not own a Progressive Dynamics converter. (But I have friends who do.) The "Charge Wizard" will improve the charging profile, but my friends note that the Charge Wizard goes from bulk charge to float without spending any time in absorb. (Their charts confirm this.) The Progressive...
