I have a Timex Expedition... with expedition in the name I figured it had to be good for expeditions...
Actually the price was decent and I liked the simple look.
The flipside is on a cold climate it helps the transmission warm up faster.
And liquid to liquid transfers heat much more efficiently than liquid to air as far as cooling the transmission.
IMO the only problem with the in radiator coolers is when they start mixing fluids which is pretty...
Unless your overloaded truck gets in a wreck or scaled.
And yes, they allow the truck to carry the load better but they do eat into the actual legal weight rating of the truck.
Some people go bananas doing axle/trans/engine swaps in the name of being able to tow more... and everything they are doing actually legally decreasing what they can tow.
Up until like 00-01 Rangers had vacuum hubs which are best avoided so avoid them for stuff related to that.
IMO watch for a parts truck. They can go pretty cheap and you have a chunk of something to get some more $$ out of when you get done with it. If you nab an Explorer the rear axle can be...
Actually anything you add to try to improve it just eats into it. Airbags, sway bars, helper springs, heavier tires... whatever they weigh is eating into what you are rated to carry.
Excursion pricing around me has gotten stupid lately. Unless it is a wreck, has a salvage title or has over 300k a diesel is stupid money (like $20-30K)
A slide in camper is a cool thing though. I just got one myself (it found me, I wasn't even looking for one) Within an hour or two either...
Here are the parts diagrams for both stoves:
https://www.oldtowncoleman.com/reference/coleman-stove-parts-diagrams.htm
A quick glance between the 424 (duel fuel) and 425F (Coleman fuel) looks like they changed a lot of stuff, might check what subs around and see if maybe the 424 was based on a...
You can do whatever you want (4wd conversion included) but you will still have a truck with a tiny cab and a tiny bed with a tiny GVWR.
The same goes for vertically, the counterbalance (engine/trans/front axle) being farther from the rear axle makes it more stable that way too.
Just saying you could have say two 4.0 trucks with the same everything but transmission and one would have drastically different ratings than the other.
Yeah, from different ends of the spectrum things change a lot.
If you buy a little 300k mile 2wd 4cyl standard cab shortbox ex Napa ranger...
If you want the step and don't care about closing it could you get one a hair longer to actually sit on part of the tail gate to prevent the tailgate from running away?
It doesn't have to close to use the step and if a camper is sitting on it it is going to take a fair amount of work to steal.
Yeah, the Ranger had issues in development staying cool. The truck was designed mainly for diesels with mechanical fans not boosted 4cyl gassers and they had problems getting enough air in the little grille to cool it so they went old school with a real fan.
Being a clean sheet design I...
I have been drooling over a '250 on my way to work someone just acquired, 4wd crew cab shortbed. I never knew they made them before the 99+ SD, I guess only like 95-97 and only in F-250's.
I haven't been around a fullsize TTB but I have no issues with the TTB in my Ranger. To the point that I...
Coming back from picking up our camper we passed some little crossover trying to pull a fair sized popup. Maybe a hair smaller than an Explorer, it was night and I couldn't make out the exact make.
Every curve he went around the tail started wagging the dog slightly. Interstate between Des...
As per usual my '150 doing the gruntwork to make everything else look good.
Camper is for my Ranger but for a mini family vacation my Ranger was less than ideal so we took the '150. I would like to get a crew cab longbox at some point so we could actually do long distance family trips in...
Good point, around here everybody has their '250 on MT's. There is no limiting terrain to make maneuverability really matter.
We don't even have a offroad park in the state that allows regular vehicles, it is like a hard days drive to get anywhere "fun" that would really make a fullsize trip...
