Plans... I've got them. And then they change a bit. Lovely bride found a new house a 2 weeks ago so any spare do-re-me $$$$$ is going into little projects to get current house ready to sell.
Homer worked great this last weekend when pressed into U-Haul duty.
Mark, you are right on...
Homer gets a lift... for the top. Easy, boys.
This was the one part I agonized over... and I think most of us do, because there are a ton of threads on here asking "how do I figure out how to mount the struts."
First we mounted up the latches to the sides of the trailer, spaced out from the...
Homer opens up!!!!!
This has been a great project so far. I have learned a ton, and I have been very fortunate to be able to work with my good friend who has done most of the welding (and other work) and I have been doing the thinking and saying can't we do it this way!
So... we had the...
Thanks Don and Grumpy Fish! This has been a great project so far. I am making progress... but still seems that the springtime is getting away from me, and I have been traveling way too much for work. Need to add an update... so here goes!!!!
Homer gets a top... well, the start of one
Thanks for the feedback guys. Sometimes things end up at a different spot because it's too good of a deal to pass up. The top has been bent- up out of a 16ga 5 x 6 sheet of galvaneal. It was on hand and reasonable... and as it is one sheet, no...
As I am quite follically challenged and generally dislike the way I look in big hats... I have been researching possible mounting options for an awning to a factory Toyota roof rack on a +05 Tacoma. Certainly there are options to mount a full cage style rack (ala BajaRack) to the OEM rack...
Order to McMaster is in. Many thanks for the parts list that I have pulled together from on the site.

Question on material for the lid... What seems to be the consensus on gauge? I am looking at a 5x8 sheet of 16ga galvaneal that can be used as one continuous sheet. No seem on top or sides. Thoughts?
Dr. P. thanks for the note. I should be just fine with 235 then. Stuff is starting...
A few weeks ago, I was able to purchase a very solid original 1966 M416 manufactured in March of 1966 by Johnson Furnace Company.
First day I saw it...
Barn fresh you could say. Original tires with a 12-65 stamp on them. Lunette eye and handbrake intact and functional, as are the drain...
I see your WTB on the lunette eye and while I do not have one for sale, I am interested in the 2" receiver that you are showing. I might be interested.
Spent a nice day a few weeks ago running around with a buddy of mine on some private property looking at trails and looking for some birds. He took a nice pic of my truck out in a bean field.
Also had a chance to look at and buy a very nice M416. March of 1966. Johnson Furnace built...
Question... do you have the OEM roof rack? I found that I hear the rook rack on the passenger side on the rare instance my wife drives my 09 DCSB. I do not hear the same noise on my side of the truck. Other than that, it here anything on the mirror itself that is loose?
