Two weeks bouncing around the desert with family in popular and less-popular places with a DIY pop up camper that managed great over hundreds of miles of pretty rough terrain.
Bought this camper 7 years ago when we were working/living in Arizona. It's a 1993 Travelaire Kodiak. Beat the snot out of it down there using it 4 days a week, every week. Then drove it from Mexico to Alaska, thinking we'd stay for a few months, but ended up living in AK for six years. Up...
Here's another truck camper trip from a couple months ago...........Sheep Bridge was the destination. A remote area on the Verde River that has just enough rough dirt road to keep most people away.
Entering from the south, near Cave Creek.
Cross over this little creek a few times.
Then...
Spent four days in the Sierra Ancha area, exploring the deserts, the forests, the canyons, and the ruins. One of my favorite places yet in Arizona.
Race out of Chandler at 9:00am to escape this over populated sea of humanity and stop at the Upper Salt for lunch.
Promptly get dirty to piss...
Shake down trip with our new-old truck camper.......we live full time in a 35' fifth wheel for work, but we missed the days in our old pop up truck camper. With a three year old, and a wife who likes to use a toilet and shower the kid, we opted for an older 1993 Kodiak camper. It's 2,000lbs...
