I ended up with using a Radio Shack HTX 212, which I got inexpensively (unfortunately the seller forgot to tell me that the power button doesnt work. it can not be turned off by the button).
I have it powered through a relay that is connected to my auxiliary battery.
The relay is triggered by a...
Been thinking about a standalone APRS system in my truck that doesnt use a handheld.
So far I am considering a MobilinkD (bluetoothed to the tablet/phone used for navigation with Gaia), and an old VHF Motorola Maxtrac.
The MobilinkD now has the capability of turning on (and off) automatically...

Turns out the UCA bushings are shot. LCA bushings seemed ok.

Hey,
Rock Auto seems to indicate that Hitachi is the manufacturer of the Mitsubishi water pump, not Aisin.
I know from the Toyota world that Aisin was generally the preferred manufacturer.
Does anyone have experience with this Aisin kit ?
According to this link on Amazon, it includes...
On Saturday I flew to AZ and bought a 98 and have been driving it back to NC.
Currently in Austin for a couple days.
Loving it so far. It needs the front end tightened up and front cam seals.
Received my General license last week.
Looking for (at least a dual band) HT and will be shopping for a mobile with crossband repeater feature in the future.
I tend to like the UV 82 form better, due to reports of better build quality, better speaker (I am hearing impaired), dual PTT buttons...
I am teaching there.
Saw the Gen 3 with the "...Dakars" plate.

Thanks,
Charly A.
