1999 FUSO FG USA model. 4d34t engine. Owned for 14 years. Has been extremely reliable. Had been sitting in storage for about 9 months (not unusual) and I tried to start it. Took longer than normal to start and won't rev up once started. (it will rev up to maybe 15-1600 rpms in neutral)...
Sorry, couldn't find the For Sale thread where this should be posted. Seems like a decent price for a person willing to put in some work as long as the frame is solid. It's Canadian dollars so deduct 25%. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/768838165001299/
We’ve towed our Sea Pearl 21 trimaran behind our FG across country. Probably around 1600-1800 lbs. No problem. We’re considering towing our F-24 trimaran across country. Probably 3000lbs. Anybody have an opinion as to whether that extra weight will make a significant difference? 99FG 4d34t
To the international Fuso expedition community, especially the Aussies. The trucks are so thin on the ground in North America, particularly older ones, that it’s impossible to establish a group brain on them. Without the international axons and dendrites I’d be left with just my personal small...
Had a flat today. I suspected my bottle Jack might be too tall to fit under the axle with a flat tire. I was correct. Ended up jacking on the bottom of the spring. It worked but not ideal. What are others doing? 99FG
Looks like I'll be needing a new set of tires for my 1999 FG in the near future. Currently running 235/85/16 Cooper Discoverer AT3. Still have OE rims and duals. Would prefer a taller tire if possible. Anybody have any recommendations for a taller tire which would work well?
Out of state friend of mine is interested in a 2001 E 350 Sportsmobile near me and I looked at it for him Here's the details: 7.3 Powerstroke. 181k miles Rebuilt Jasper transmission and differential.Quigley 4wd conversion, 12k Warn winch. Hardtop with about 5'10" headroom. It's got 220 W of...
The shop manual says that the nuts holding the front driveshaft flange to the yoke at the back of the transfer case are non-reusable. Anyone know why? Anyone reused them? I’m about to dig into the parking brake assembly to fix my loose shoe. Also says o-ring behind large yoke nut is not...
I suspect the spring which retracts the emergency brake shoes has broken or come detached as I am getting some brake squeak at low speeds which coincides with driveshaft rotation. Anybody mess with that system? Doesn’t seem like it is a pressing fix. Is there a reason to think otherwise?
Just met a guy in the Walmart parking lot in Rivière du Loop, Quebec who just bought a 2012 FG to convert into a camper. Welcome aboard if you haven’t posted here yet.
Got a Stratos suspension driver’s seat. About 45k miles on it. Whatever secures the seat foam under the seat has failed where it attaches on the right side. Feels like a kind of heavy vinyl material. Anyone repaired this? Glad I didn’t pay full price for the seat or id really be pissed at the...
Pretty sure a Fuso FG camper passed us today heading westbound on 77 in Northern Wisconsin. In 50k if driving, the first we’ve seen. Is the owner on here?
What’s the best Canadian parts source for Fuso? Going to be putting on a lot of Canadian miles in the next month or so and wondering where to go if things go south.
Years ago when the forum was trying to figure out why FG AC systems performed so poorly, I discovered that the cause was the rubber flap hanging down in front of the condensor was diverting the air intended to be driven by the plastic louvers on the bottom of the condenser, up through the...
Used the AC driving home from Wyoming yesterday. Opened up the cab this morning and it smelled like wet river shoes. I assume this means the AC condensation is not draining properly. Anyone have any idea where it is and how to clear it? I can’t recall seeing water dripping from the cab when...
This is a picture of a Palamino camper whose roof was torn off while driving in high winds (60-80mph) in Denver last weekend. (Not mine) Anyone seen this happen before? Owner had installed 4 additional latches and all were latched when the roof let loose. Anybody have any hypotheses as to how...
Got some constant squeaking going on. Best guess is that its coming from where the cab sits in the cradles and is locked down. Anyone else have this problem and know the solution. Looking at the hooks in the center of the cradles, the left one clearly had a shining part on top where it is...
I know that this may make me look like an idiot, but I’m counting on the fact I may not fall far outside the norm. Before tilting your cab, open both doors. The difference is night and day. I’ve owned mine for 12 yrs and didn’t know this. I even increased the torsion in the lifting mechanism...
