    My Expedition Trailer

Woohoo! Hooked up for the first and did a nice little test pull. Completely satisfied how it turned out and looking forward to putting lots of miles on these two in the next 6 months.

    My Expedition Trailer

I decided against any kind of additional framing around the tank and just went with some metal straps and stainless hardware. I'll start on the sides today and hopefully get somewhere productive with that.

    My Expedition Trailer

I'm going to build just like a 1x2 frame around the base of the tank so it stays where is should then use some flat steel as a strap to keep it from bouncing around. Anyone see any issues with that?

    My Expedition Trailer

Got the old tent mounts off, fabbed up the new tent uprights and got the top cut and fitted along with the location of the water tank figured out. Next up: - New sides - remount the pump and filter and plumb - redo wiring - finish the trim and paint/bedline - weld in the cross bars and get...

Tent showed up! Currently still in the box until I get the trailer ready for it, but a big step!

    My Expedition Trailer

Couple changes that I will be incorporating: 1. I originally used OSB (sealed with bedliner) as the sides of the storage box. Even sealed, the OSB strands are separating and it just doesn't look great and will eventually degrade. I have thought long and hard on this and while my first choice...

    My Expedition Trailer

Wow, I forgot about this thread. I am in the process of rebuilding the box and tent rack on my trailer after a year's worth of use identified some things I wanted to change. Since I am swapping tents to the Tepui Kukenam Ruggedized, I figured it was a good time to do so. I'll update that...

    Tepui Tent RTT

Howdy! I just purchased a Kukenam Ruggedized in haze gray to replace the Wild Boar Camp-n-Case on my home built trailer. I am redoing the mount/rack points as I was previously using the old tent and the cover of my storage area. Anyway, can anyone tell me the width of the the two tracks...

    My Expedition Trailer

I need to a reinforcing ring as well, but my time as been diverted elsewhere at the moment. I'll get more posted this week to bring this build closer to its current status.

    My Expedition Trailer

Before I got any further along, I needed to make sure I could tow the thing.... I started messing with the receiver tube and this is where I identified that the 3/16" wall tube is a bit slack for a hitch to slide into. Some further research indicated that a typical receiver tube is 2.5" 1/4"...

    My Expedition Trailer

When I started to build the tent support structure that was the prime objective. Having the storage area below was a natural byproduct of that task. I won't say that this was done on the fly, but the dimensions were very much a function of the size of the tent, and the initial ride...

    My Expedition Trailer

Yeah it could.......to tell you the truth, the are not currently selling them due to a production issue and the prices are high. If i hadn't found this one, I would have gone another route.

    My Expedition Trailer

Chassis starts to take shape: You can see here the difference between "receiver tube" and 2.5" 3/16 wall. I ended up using some 16ga sheet and created a sleeve to bring the receiver area to a more precise fit with the Max Coupler (shown later in the build) And then just like, rolling...

    My Expedition Trailer

After LOTS of research on dimensions, parts, etc., I decided on the following for the chassis, axle and springs: 2.5" 3/16 wall square tube for the tongue ( I used this instead of 1/4" wall for weight purposes, however, I had to shim for proper receiver operation) 2"x3" 3/16 wall rect tube for...

    My Expedition Trailer

Here are the goals I had in mind when I started designing the trailer: 1. Support this particular RTT 2. Include a 12V power system 3. Include integrated water storage 4. Provide enough storage for the rest of my gear 5. have near the same track as my JK 6. Be as light as reasonably...
