Be careful, the amount you haul, lessens the amount you can safely tow, the transmission can only work so hard and brake performance.

Thoughts on Ram ProMaster FWD Vans?

The width of the Promaster at it widest point, where I have my bed set up, is 6' 3" and that's with insulation on both walls plus the fact its lower overall was the the main selling point for me. I was able to configure a setup in a van 19.5' long. Easier to get in and out with one less step in...

Thoughts on Ram ProMaster FWD Vans?

Look up the 0-60 times for the Transit, Promaster and Sprinter. The Transit with the Eco motor is a hotrod but a heavy foot will cost you at the pump, the standard motor along with the Promaster V6 both accelerate quite well and climb grades as fast as you want. I drove the Sprinter and it is...

Thoughts on Ram ProMaster FWD Vans?

I bought my new Promaster, loaded for $30k, $8k discount, a similarly equipped 4x4 Sprinter lists out for $60k and discounts are rare. One could buy a new Promaster and a new Jeep to tow and still have change.

Thoughts on Ram ProMaster FWD Vans?

Of the three large vans on the market, Sprinter,Transit and Promaster, the one with the least ground clearance will surprise you, hint, it isn't the Promaster.

From testing I determined I can safely run the AC on battery for 6hrs, 7 hrs or more depending on solar output. I can charge the lithium batteries through shore power 15 or 30 amp, solar, generator or alternator. More pics here: http://s1276.photobucket.com/user/mcgiotes/Mojovan/story

Near completion Testing electrical system, magnum2812 runs the 13500 AC easily plus I can run my hot water heater and microwave at the same time. The solar panels are cranking out amps, the dinette bed configure works out great as you can leave half the bed made and still use the dinette and...

The same useable AH in lead batteries would have weighed 900+lbs, my pack weighs 250lbs. I cut the cost by prudent shopping,by picking up the batteries at the distributer near the port so no shipping $, buying out of state to save Tax$, and assembling the pack myself. 900AH with BMS cost me...

Dry camping, running the AC without having to run the generator that much. It will have induction cook top, microwave, electric heat, electric blanket, tv, etc…. I'm not running any propane so most all of the appliances are electric. With the exception of the Webasco gas heater which uses...

So far my charging setup includes the battery switch that routes the alternator to the aux battery or the lipo pack. I installed 2 smart maintenance chargers, one for the engine battery and one for the aux battery for when the van's parked for a while. The aux battery has a dedicated 40watt...

There's a difference between the microspheres used in paint as a thickener and the hollow ones used for insulating.

    DIY Lizard Skin

I mixed up, and applied several coats to the undercharge of my van. I used a water based polyurethane. Don't mix too much in as the stuff will fall off and the beads won't settle close to each other, about the consistency of gear lube. Use multiple coats if brushing. Clear is the most efficient...

Little more headway, built a cabinet around the fridge 7 CF marine unit 12v and 110 with the ventilation ducted over the top. It is removable as a unit so any problems down the road I can remove the whole cabinet and fridge. Front step area almost done and will house allot of electrical stuff...
