    So-Cal Monty meetup/off road trip

I am in the San Diego area and would be interested in offroading with some other Monteros. Usually everyone i offroad with has a Jeep. What part of SoCal are you guys thinking about doing this run? If the San Diego area deserts are not to far for everyone there are awesome trails in Anza...

What did you do to your Mitsubishi today?

I just installed an Aussie Locker in the front diff on my 97 Montero LS. For 300$ you can't go wrong.

What did you do to your Mitsubishi today?

Yesterday i pulled the front diff out of my truck, cleaned it in a pool of gasoline and installed an aussie locker. Today i will be reassembling everything. I also replaced the driver side rear cam o-ring seal (previously i had only replaced the driverside one).

What did you do to your Mitsubishi today?

I decided it was about time to grease up all the zurk fittings again since i have done a couple shallow water crossings over the last two weeks and am leaving on a 2 day excursion this afternoon. Currently deciding how i want to proceed with my rear rocker panels as they are invading my escape...

What did you do to your Mitsubishi today?

For my overhead lights, the LEDs were a bit bigger also. i simply bent the metal bulb connectors out a bit to hold the bigger bulb and they work without issue.

Mitsubishi Montero Dash, Console, and Interior LED Bulb Replacement, Gen 2.5

Great writeup! i used this to replace all of mine with blue LEDs. The only issue i had was the new compass bulbs were super bright and didn't dim so i ended up taking them back out.

I spent a few hours yesterday getting the rest of the rims sanded and painted. 3 cans of textured matte black paint later i now i have black rims. It's amazing what you can do with a great idea and a few bucks. Thanks to Silverwolf for the idea in his thread located here...

My new KC Apollo Pro 6" H3 lights showed up yesterday so i got them mounted up on the front bumper's upper bar (above winch). They provide much more distance than my LED light bar and are DOT approved. My only concerns with them are the plastic housing and mount assembly as i can see them...

I was doing some rock crawling the other evening after the sun set and got an idea for some rock lights. I had 2x lights laying around the house (left overs from my golf cart upgrades) so i went ahead and cleaned/painted them up and fabricated some brackets. They fit perfectly behind my front...

I decided to paint my rims black after seeing another forum post with the idea. So far i have only painted one of them and i am very impressed with how it turned out. I sandblasted the rim lightly and then painted it with flat black textured paint. I really like the way the textured paint turned...

I actually already upgraded the alternator to a 200 amp and have plans to add a second isolated battery circuit soon. So far no issues though with the lights, 2 amps, subwoofer, etc. When I use the winch I need to kick the idle up a bit. Also I usually don't use multiple things at the same time...

Just ordered some KC HiLiTES 151 Apollo Pro 6" lights to mount on my front bumper above the winch and another blue led rocker switch for my dash. Now that i will have both a 52" 300w LED light bar and these 100w H3 hilites in the front, so i should have plenty of light to see what is in front of...

Not sure i follow the "no wonder your valve cover gaskets leak" comment? They leak because they are old and haven't been replaced for years, anyways they only leak when i am climbing or descending very steep hills.

The light bar on the hood worked out well as there is no glare at all, however the only downside is when you are cresting hills as your line of sight is blocked somewhat. As for the rear shelf, i stole that idea from another forum post and modified it a bit. I'll get some close up pics and...

I have had quite a bit of luck on Amazon and ebay for most items. Craigslist doesn't seem to have much specifically for a montero, but i have used parts for other vehicles without issue. THere are tons of forum posts regarding this.
