500 Miles On the Redwood Coast (Northern California)

Great write up so far. We have driven many of the same roads in our Westy during our travels to the Redwoods and Lost Coast. Last time we were on Bald Hills road, it was so foggy you couldn't see more than 30 feet. Kinda a bummer as it is so beautiful up there. nate

    1986 GMC S-15

We were up in Port Renfrew back in mid February. Weather was pretty decent for the winter. The roads up to Nitinat Lake were ROUGH from all of the rains. Some had landslides and were washed out. Love that part of the island. Truck progress is awesome. I did an 8.8 swap in my Jeep Comanche...

Here is a short video we did of the Descend on Lost Sierra event that just took place outside of Portola California. The Descend events started as a Vanagon gathering but have evolved into a very big event for all like minded travelers. Enjoy! nate

The Longest Way Down... Detours, Delays, and Determination

The next morning I checked the Caltrans site and the highway was still closed. That made the decision for us, back towards Redding. The sunrise was beautiful from our not so secluded campsite. We stopped in a few small towns to see what they had to offer but most were pretty quiet on this...

The Longest Way Down... Detours, Delays, and Determination

We had a decision to make. Wait around in the Redwoods area for information on the reopening of highway 101, or just plan on heading back the way we came on highway 299. We needed to be home Monday night and it was already Saturday and had to keep in mind it may be a two day drive home. Putting...

The Redwoods! The next morning we set off early to make up for lost time yesterday. I will let the pics do the talking here as I can’t add much that will describe the size and beauty of this area. We headed down to Miranda to get some gas and make lunch. While there we had some great...
