I'm pretty sure my 1017a with OM 352a engine at about 10.5t is averaging about the same in normal use.
Altitude has a big bearing. Everytime we crossed the Andes hitting 5000m I think my consumption nearly doubled.
Good info

We have been on the road in our 1017 in South, Central and North America since 2017. We are currently in Guatemala.
Our Vehicle is on a Rail on Rail spring loaded system and has performed perfectly on some pretty bad roads.
Three and four point pivoting systems are great when they work well...
Not sure where you got that information from
I think there are only a handful of dealers in the whole of the Americas. Definately from Mexico south I have never seen one. I was told that there was a very limited supply of parts through VW but these will be factory orders and take weeks .
As...
Both these manufaturers make great trucks.
However, in a later post you suggest you want to go through Africa and the far east.
MAN parts are tough to source outside europe and Steyr parts are tough to source everywhere, including europe.
I would look at whats more common in the places you...
I have sent you a personal message with a link.
From here you can download the Mercedes technical manuals from me in pdf
I have been travelling in ours for the last 10 years so I am quite familiar with this model.
Ask if you need to know something.
Neil
The operators manual in English does come up on ebay quite often
The second photo shows the Mercedes part number , which will make it easier to find

My springs at the front of the rail on rail sub frame open 100mm .
The chassis pretty much divides the width of the cabin into three equal parts , soo 100 mm opening allows 100mm drop on the opposite side of the cabin.
It's firm, but has worked perctly for 80,000 km on some pretty rough roads...
I have just stumbled into this company in Germany. I know nothing about them , but they may be worth a call to see if they will export.

I don't know when the SK ended, but the model 1017 ended in 89 . It cannot be a 93 as the seller suggests.
There wasn't a 1017 in the SK range .
If the seller is saying it's a 6 speed 1017a from 1993, it cannot be correct and needs to be approached with caution
The 917, as you know, is...
My 1017 has an air compressor that is a small piston mounted on the side of the engine and shares its lubrication with the engine oil.
Whilst I am certain that the engine itself would be more than happy with synthetic oil, Wabco, who make the air system state that the small particles of oil...
1017 finished in 1989
The 1017 and the 917 are very different
The 1017 with fast axles and 22.5 inch wheels will cruise comfortable at 60 at about 2100 rpm on the highway .
It's capable of slightly higher but happy at 60
Neil
The 1017 finished in 89. As I suggested in an earlier post it cannot be 1993
Something is not quite right .
I have also never heard of a 1017 with a 6 speed box .
Warning bells are ringing with this one
Neil
Ok. Firstly you sent me a message saying itv was 1993 . They definitely didn't make the 1017a in 1993. I think the last one of the line was early 1989. I would check the paperwork. Somethings not correct .
Secondly, I have looked at literally hundreds of these and have never seen a 6 sp one...

Just be aware that because you are over 3500kg there is a whole load of different rules for Toll roads.
Some are pay as you go
Some will require you to but a device that you put in the vehicle . Eg Austri with a GOBOX
Some will require you to set up an app before you enter the country...
