Insuring DIY Hardside Camper Build on chassis cab truck

I had the same concerns. The way Allstate and I went about it was insuring it as a "Ford RV" and we just agreed upon a price that the truck was worth and what would be paid incase something happened to it. They were not concerned with he fact that i was the one outfitting the RV. If I remember...

Insuring DIY Hardside Camper Build on chassis cab truck

I went through Allstate. Didn't have any issues. With the title in hand Im not sure why you are having such a hard time getting it insured... Ya I don't think my machine is very comparable to yours @14,500lb GVWR... lol

Insuring DIY Hardside Camper Build on chassis cab truck

I have my Ambulanced titled and insured as an RV in Michigan. Getting the title worked out was the harder part for me. Once I got a title that recognized it as an RV, insurance was a phone call away.

    6.0 Diesel Van Exhaust Options

@ujoint - Yeah I'm not sure I would choose to go that route... That being said most new trans designs are omitting the dipstick anyways it seems. I was playing with the idea reworking the floor/doghouse to maybe enable a larger downpipe but it just doesn't seem worth it to me. In my...

    6.0 Diesel Van Exhaust Options

Chris, what kind of compromise are you referring to? I assume an oversize downpipe would not be able to hae any heat insulation on it. So would the doghouse start burning up? to much interior noise? Or something else that would be less apparent?

    The Heap. A Gen 2 Tracker/Vitara Build

Doing awesome work with this! When my Tracker gets retired into a play truck I may have to copy what you did with the wheel wells. I'm very interested to see how the front bumper turns out! Most the bumpers that I see for these trucks are boxy and just don't match the style very well. did you...

    Play bikes...

My brother has a 2019 KLX110 with electric start. While it is no speed demon it 100% fits the play bike category. The thing is an absolute blast to ride! We honestly have more fun tooling around on that then on our race bikes. lots of low end power (gearing most likely) but it can get him up to...

    The Heap. A Gen 2 Tracker/Vitara Build

No rust?! Lucky you! I picked up a 2000 4 door (189,000mi, 2.0L and 5 speed) earlier this year for a cheap daily that I could use as a toad also. Sadly the rockers were way worse then I expected... it always the stuff you cant see until its to late. I cut off what remained of the rocker and...

    Real MPGs for your rig?

Transmission is a 5r and I do have an intercooler on mine as well. Is the newer front end really that much more aerodynamic? Or are you referring to the difference in the ambulance box sizes? That's a good point about the TCC, I will have to double check its status while cruising on the...

    Real MPGs for your rig?

Iggi, 2 questions for you... 1. What rpm are you running at 70mph? 2. How heavy is your rig? I have a 2006 e450 6.0l ambo currently averaging around 12.5mpg cruising between 65-68mph. When I cruise at 70 mph the engine spins at 2500rpm. Current weight is right at 11,000lbs. Just wondering if...
