Help for equiping a vehicle that will be left on a beach

I'd already sorta figured that we were in at least one boat, maybe two or three to get there.. Anchors shouldn't be something I necessarily add to the truck. You've just introduced a whole new option for not having to carry more kit.

    Back-Up Light Question

I've had it both ways (previous truck had reverse lights on a DPDT switch, for ON/Ind.-OFF-ON/w Rev. Current truck has wired into factory reverse lights, plus switch w/diode for independent use. Either or seems to work fine and neither was significantly harder to wire than the other. Only...

Help for equiping a vehicle that will be left on a beach

I've got a few weld-on zincs laying around from a barge build...not sure it'll help, but I'm sure it won't hurt. Might pop one on each frame rail. Thanks for the idea.

Help for equiping a vehicle that will be left on a beach

Got a minor tune up done just to see what difference simple stuff made in running condition. After plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air filter, smog pump removed (for sake of space under the hood and losing about 6' of rubber hose in varying sizes), a few particularly worn out vacuum lines replaced...

Help for equiping a vehicle that will be left on a beach

I got it home last night... Got my first real look in daylight today. It's not a peach. Rust in the rockers, 289k mile motor with some tinkering necessary before she's beach worthy. Tires appear nearly brand new, Yokohama geo something's. So that's the tires she'll have for now. I think we're...

Help for equiping a vehicle that will be left on a beach

It's a beautiful place, and we're lucky enough to be friends with one of 2 people that owns a building out there, which gives him the right to legally have transportation. We'll be his guests. It'll likely not be anytime soon (gotta get the truck right, get a barge lined up for a lunar high...

Help for equiping a vehicle that will be left on a beach

On an uninhabited barrier island. Kinetic strap (unless I'm missing something) would only be useful with another vehicle, correct? 99.9% of the time, we'd be the only vehicle out there. It's a 10+mile boat ride to the island, and you can only reach the natural landing points on certain wind...

Help for equiping a vehicle that will be left on a beach

I sort of assumed that to be true based my dad's Trooper that he had for so long. He loved his '86 so much that he replaced it with a '98 Trooper, in 1998. Doesn't seem to be rusting like his old one, but it burns oil quicker than a 2 stroke, and has since nearly new. Also, at $100...if it's...

Help for equiping a vehicle that will be left on a beach

Thanks for the responses thus far. My dad had a trooper ('86) and we used to take it on the beach a few times a year, stock tires, street air pressure, etc. and never had a lick of trouble, but that was also somewhere with other vehicles driving up and down the beach. This will be in an area...

Help for equiping a vehicle that will be left on a beach

Howdy, After searching the internet with various questions and repeatedly finding threads on this forum that had great answers, figured I'd join and try to get some advice about my setup. We're going to have a truck (Trooper II) permanently in a saltwater beach, where it will live out its days...
