mbeach THANKS and welcome. I am new here too but found this to be a great community. Wow what great info. I am not at the tire decision stage yet. I would love a set of mpt81 style tires but alas they are way too big for my rig. I am doing a paint job on the nose of my truck this weekend or...

Nice I love the window on the side that is exactly what I am going to request on my AT Flip Pac when I order it next summer. In the NW if I don't want to pop the camper in the winter I wanted the option of some ventilation with it closed. Perfect!

I have mentioned a few times in this thread some of the gear I currently have and some of the gear I am looking to purchase. One of those pieces of gear I currently have is an 3G iPad that I am planning on using for GPS maps and tracking. I am also planning on having a handheld gps as a backup...

Yeah I know what you mean re: 2500. I have sunk so much into this truck already with the new engine and all I plan to keep it for the next 5 years or so. My next truck is absolutely going to be a diesel 2500 or maybe a Ford F250. Although I do lean toward the Dodge :)

CB install I picked up a midland portable cb as backup comms and decided to use the car kit till I get my in dash unit. I have removed the tray in preparation for the in dash system I am planning. Here you can see the coax I have run behind the dash. My midland portable cb and the mess...

Arghh frustrating. I found out the only leveling option on my year truck is torsion keys. I kinda wanted to avoid that because of the extra stress it puts on the suspension. So my options are now bigger tires and maybe cut away some plastic to deal with rub, or a 6" fabtech lift with 35s. I am...

Suspension sucks for this year and model ram :( So for what I am doing I am considering just putting in a leveling kit, 35 inch toyo open country mts, new shocks bilsteins HD/rancho/tough country, and firestone airbags in the rear to handle additional weight of the flippac and gear. For at the...

She had 119k miles on her and I don't know how the previous owner handled oil changes. Long story short after a tow she now has a new engine and I know how this owner will take care of her moving parts.

More comprehensive list and links to planned upgrades! Ok I thought I would take the time to make a comprehensive list of planned upgrades of what I am leaning towards to let all of you try and convince me to do something different :) Suspension and Tires/Wheels: Fabtech 6" Rancho 4" Kore...

Here she is. Work is moving ahead on the in dash cb install. I have removed the plastic shelf underneath the climate controls. I will dremel the bezel to fit the cb and make some sort of mounting bracket. Guess the next step will be to purchase a cb unit.

Just checked out carli suspension. Unfortunately none of their kits are built for 2004 ram 1500s. Any other recommendations?

Backspacing Thanks for the thoughts. Wouldn't more backspacing cause tire rub with 35s? The leveling option would be less expensive. I will be mostly on gravel and fire roads not rock crawling. I have the 20 inch stock rims.

Hello all. I am new to the forum but thought this would be a good place to track my build out of my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 for a run up the coast from Seattle, WA to Deadhorse, AK that I am planning for either next summer or the following summer. This will be my first overland adventure off...
