    SOLD 2016 Sportsmobile Sprinter 4x4 pop-top

We use a camp stove outside. Unless the weather is bad, we're outside anyway. Otherwise it has a microwave inside. Because we have diesel heat and hot water, which runs off the main fuel tank, we opted out of adding a propane system just for a cooktop. One less system, fewer potential problems!

    SOLD 2016 Sportsmobile Sprinter 4x4 pop-top

Sadly, the time has come to sell our Sportsmobile Sprinter. We’ve had great trips in this van, including the Continental Divide Route, the Trans-America trail, and 3 Backcountry Discovery Routes (AX, CO, & NM)! Fully equipped for off-grid and off-road travel. A similarly equipped new van would...

    America’s Great Continental Divide

I did the CDR this summer and crossed paths with this group. They even let me travel with them for 2 days (thanks!). It took me just over 3 weeks to go border to border, but I diverted to the BDR route through Colorado, which is a little longer. Didn't get to go into Canada because of the...

    Continental Divide and Colorado BDR

Final Thoughts, in no particular order The CDR and COBDR portion of the vacation was 25 days and about 4,250 miles from home in Albuquerque. That includes the trip down from Albuquerque down to the border, the detour to Glenwood Springs for tires, and the detour to Missoula for Walleye. From...

Day 25 – Columbia Falls, MT to Eureka, MT – 135 miles Although my vacation will continue for another couple weeks, today is the last day of my CDR adventure. The Canada border is only about 135 miles away. I head to Whitefish and then up along the east edge of Whitefish Lake, by lots of...

Day 24 – Granite Butte, MT to Columbia Falls, MT – 235 miles This morning I woke up and started making coffee, the usual morning routine. The weather was really nice, so I had the sliding door open on the van. I thought I hears something in the brush but wasn’t sure. Spidey senses were...

Day 23 – Missoula, MT to Granite Butte, MT – 235 miles As nice as it was to relax with the kids in Missoula, I knew that I still had a ways to go. Besides, I’d be back in Missoula soon to meet up with the rest of the family for their vacation. I took I-15 to Butte and got back on the route...

    Continental Divide and Colorado BDR

Day 21 – Lower Mesa Falls, ID to Missoula, MT – 395 miles Last one, I promise. Intel from another forum member was that the route from Mesa Falls to Island Park terminates in an OHV area where full-size vehicles are prohibited. Not wanting to backtrack and find a way out, I stuck to the...

Somehow I missed a few pics from Day 20. These are in the mountains before I got to Grand Teton. Northern Wyoming and Montana are officially grizzly country.

Day 20 – Pinedale, WY to Mesa Falls, ID – 255 miles The sun rose this morning to an even smokier sky than last evening. Again, a beautiful sunrise, but one I'd gladly forego in exchange for clear skies. The smoke would continue all day. Out of Pinedale, the route follows the highway...

    Continental Divide and Colorado BDR

It's amazing that it's that slow! I would've thought they'd want to get it out of the way quicker than that.
