    LR3 Extended Warranty

Ditto. I've owed two LR3s, a 05 and 06 SE. My ex wife still has the 05 with >160k miles. They were/have been very reliable. I sold mine (06) with 120k miles. I don't believe the extended warranty is necessary. Other than the air suspension compressor (which neither car ever had an issue with)...

Moving to Kauai, in need of vehicle advise.

Keep the disco, especially if it's paid for. I would research service options first. I'm not sure what's available there.

    2006 LR3 build

Ugh…reading this makes me miss my 06 LR3. Sold mine in August with 114k miles and still running like new. Bought a damn 06 Yukon because I would (have been) traveling extensively through west TX/southeast NM where there isn't any LR service support. I knew the LR3 could probably take the...

    Will LR4 prices hold?

If you are considering an LR3 (since they are all pre owned now), why not consider a used LR4? The age old question pops up in this scenario as well; what do you intend to use it for? You actually have more tire and off road accessory choices for the LR3 than the LR4 (it feels really odd...

    Overland Journal: Discovery I, 5-speed

Makes me miss my 96 Disco SD...that was the one that started the addiction. 6 more were to follow! And now, I have none...

    LR3 Sears Diehard Platinum question

I dont know that you can fit a Diehard Platinum in an LR3. I tried with my 06. You can find the right size, the problem is the terminals are on the wrong side. Therefore the battery wires will not reach. You may be able to have battery cables made that will fit, but the stock ones wont. I...

    Picked up a broken 99 D2 for 1300.00.

Cool find. Sounds like you know your way around the engine, so this should be a great deal for you. Cant wait to hear what the issue(s) is (are). Definitely a nice looking truck.

    Looking at a new 2012 LR4

Buy the LR4, don't worry about the gas grade. LOL, kind of funny to read a whole discussion on use of premium vs regular unleaded gas when you're paying $20-50k for a car (depending on which model and which model year). Seriously, there's a $0.20 difference in grades, that $3 per tank if you...

What shocks are you guys running on your Classics?

Bilsteins, on both my RRC and D1. They did very well on road and off. I believe they have a life time warranty.

classic RANGE ROVER DIESEL CONVERSION UNDER $ 1500 DOLLAR project .

You should have a ways to go, which hopefully will give you time to save your pennies.

    Range Rover P38 diesel conversion

Send a PM to Redrover. He has a 6.2 in his Range Rover Classic too and runs waste motor oil and all sorts of other stuff (it seems) through it.

    Disco I key codes?

Call Rovers North. Since they are licensed to carry all of the LR "classic" parts, they may have the information or know who would have it. Frankly, I am surprised the dealers don't have it. It isnt like the D1s and RR Classics have completely gone a way. Also, maybe try some other dealers...

    P38 vs Disco II

As I have mentioned, of the seven total Land Rovers I have owned (D1, D2, RRC, P38 & LR3), the LR3 has been every bit as capable in stock form - if not more capable. I never modified my LRs. Not that I didnt want to, I just never got around to it and they perform so well on moderate trails in...

    P38 vs Disco II

ABSOLUTELY the LR3 is substantially more reliable than a "well sorted" D2. I have owned two of each. The LR3s remain virtually maintenance free. That doesnt mean you dont have to change fluids and replace disposable items. The LR3's engine, ancillaries and electronics are exponentially more...

    Question for LR3 owners

Ben, when did you get your Diehard Platinum? I bought a new battery for my 06 LR3 last April. I couldnt find a Diehard Platinum for the LR3. Sears told me they didnt have one that fit...had to go to O'Reillys in a pinch...UGH!

    P38 vs Disco II

Just for clarification, Redrover has a Range Rover Classic, not a P38 Range Rover. P38s were the 2nd generation Range Rover. You may know that, but I just wanted to be sure. I couldnt tell if your reference to Redrover was to his Range Rover or his diesel engine. Speaking of diesels, a...

Hmmm....that might apply to a lot of pre-2005 model year Land Rover owners (me included)...LOL!

    Requiem for a V8

Fuzz, there's a BIG difference between dropping the coin to buy a unique D110 (even an ECR110) and even a D90, vs paying $13k to do a 4.0 engine swap an every day, easy to find, DII. Also, even $13k for a 3.9 engine swap in a 110 or 90 is still too much. Diesel would be in the ball park.

    Requiem for a V8

Instead of really wanting helpful opinions the OP really just wanted to confirm the decision he'd already made. Either way the result is still the same and he didn't like it. Yes, he will have the black D2 on the trails that isn't leaking coolant, but he will also have the black D2 with the...
