    Campfire Shots

I'm not saying that going on a 1,600 mile camping adventure with my wife and two teenage daughters drove me to drink, but.... :sneaky: Yellowstone National Park. On the beach, Playa Dorada, Cabo Punta Banda, south of Ensenada, Mexico.

    Random RIG Shots

We are quite happy with the Colorado, though. It's far more capable than the Mighty Mitsu. Since I paid over five times as much for it, it had better be! In the Owyhees, southeastern Oregon.

    Random RIG Shots

We loved our 2001 Mitsubishi Montero. It never failed us and got us places that we couldn't believe. Not too bad for an $8,000 Ebay leap of faith! Eye of the Whale Trail, Arches National Park, Utah. Vehicle-supported remote overland travel with two 14-year old daughters. Mountain...

Chevy Colorado: aux lighting switch installed on turn signal stalk

That's already in use for the amber fog lights! (y) I know some folks have sourced the OEM light switch with two aux switches, but this seemed more intuitive to me.

Chevy Colorado: aux lighting switch installed on turn signal stalk

I sold my trusty '01 Montero not long ago. We had a blast in that thing but it was becoming more challenging to find parts. Not that it needed much work at all, but...well, it was time. Its replacement is this '19 Colorado ZR2 Bison with the baby Duramax diesel. It came with this silly bumper...

Routing coax to the roof rack

You certainly could drill and install a through fitting, either a gasketed bulkhead fitting (how most coax penetrates the overhead in marine applications) or a coax penetration fitting, with a short length of coax to whatever mount you want to put on your rack.

    Weird Scratchy Sound

Do some searching around here before you spring for the motor. A much more likely culprit is the accumulator. When it fails, the motor has little spasms trying to boost pressure. Other owners and I have posted in this thread about replacing them. It's child's play and the part is not expensive.

    Gen3 Tire Size

My Gen III loves its Les Schwab Wild Country A/T tires in 265/70-16. It's a family hauler, commuter, towing rig, and backcountry adventure rig. They're quiet on the highway and demonstrate superb handling in wet or dry. They are outstanding in snow & ice. They rocked the slickrock in Moab, did a...

Flashing Center Differential Light on Gen 3.5 Ltd.

Wait a minute...if you already have changed the oil, there's no reason to do so again. This sort of problem is likely to come from sludge and goo when the oil is old; if you've replaced it already then you know that this wasn't the issue.

Replacing Front Wheel Bearings on Gen III

The bearings come as described in this thread and they're really not expensive at all. I can't speculate what it might take to actually get new bearings into the hub, but I suspect that it would cost you more in shop labor than it would be worth. Water crossings in and of themselves won't hurt...

03 Montero Limited spare part availability (Front-ECU)

Long shot but easy to fix...I had this exact problem recently on my Dodge Caravan. It made no sense because all the individual parts tested fine. A couple of online users in a Dodge forum suggested something and it solved the problem. The main battery ground was a little corroded, just a bit...

Flashing Center Differential Light on Gen 3.5 Ltd.

Posted my own thread on this a few months back (Gen III) but have still never learned the cause. Unlike most such problems, all the various modes work perfectly well. It's just that the orange lamp blinks after several miles of driving in 2WD. Turning the ignition off resets it, but it always...
