Right now, something along these lines (in no particular order):
- ARB bumper with a winch
- OME 2.5" lift
- 32" ATs
- rear hitch gate to get the spare out of the cubby
- dual battery setup
- armour (far more then I've ever put on my wranglers)
I'll never wheel it as I did any of my JKs (my...
Ryan, question for you. Do you have a side profile shot with the tire carrier? Seems to stick out a lot on the back end. Not that there's too many alternatives I suppose if one wants their spare out of the cubby.
Lack of power when towing in the mountains was something that I always noticed with my 2012 JKUR and my little M101 coming in at ~1500 lbs wasn't heavy by any means. I notice it even more with my current 2010 sport with a 6spd (2012 was an auto). It was just one of the reasons I'm moving to a...
Unfortunately I do not have an answer on that. jeep forum has a whole section on GCs/WK2s, so perhaps that is the place to look/ask. I expect that the GC will be 3 wheeling a lot more then my Wranglers ever did and it's just something that I'll have to accept as a limitation of the platform.
I'm with Grassland on that one. My current 2dr never had the tops or doors off in the 2 yrs I've owned it. I did do that a bunch early on with my 2012 however it wasn't something I did consistently. But then we usually only get decent weather from June to Aug, so that really limits things. That...
2014 and up has the 8 speed automatic. The 2012-2013 have the 6 speed, and before that they had a 5 speed. It was the sole reason I limited my searches to 2014+ with a 5.7L. I figure I'll need all the help I can get to boost the mileage, and more specifically the increase in range that goes with...
I think it depends on how you plan to use it. 3.5" of extra clearance (well actually only 2.75" as you only get half of the tire clearance under the axles) can make a noticeable difference even though it doesn't sound like a lot. However it's also possible that if all you're doing is FSRs then...
Potentially. But I've thought for a while that a mildly built Cherokee (2" lift, winch, armour) would do 90/95% of what I've been doing the last several years (4-5?). The GC is a little bigger, but given that the trails around where I live are not all that tight, I do not see that being a...
I see it only took 8 years (almost to the day) for me to go from the Wrangler to a WK2, almost entirely for the on road benefits and due to me wheeling a lot less then I was 4-5 years ago.
Well after driving nothing but JKs for the past 12 years (07 JKU, 2012 JKUR, 2010 JK), I just committed to buy a 2014 WK2 (5.7L Hemi). Really wanted a diesel, but given that I drive my work truck 90% of the time... figured it sitting for weeks on end would be even worse then a gas vehicle doing...
I'm unfamiliar with these. I really never paid much attention to the Evasion as I was always concerned that the roof would be too low (realistically this would never be a concern, but that's why I with with the Space Evolution). Mine with the air struts doesn't have anything like this.
I find that if the main rear flap is closed and the little flap over your face is opened that the vent/fan will pull air (usually) from that little vent over your face and out via the fan. It's not great and I really wish it were bigger, but it does on occasion work rather well. It's just that...
Perhaps talk to a local boat shop? They should know someone who makes custom covers/awnings/etc for boats. Surely they could do something similar for your tent. It might not be cheap... but then neither was your tent. Fortunately my JB stays inside whenever it's not in use so it's not something...
Looks like a great idea!
In an ideal world we could get something a little more integrated... but at this point just having the option of something would be great. Please post up whatever you find/do, as having some kind of solution to this would be great, even if it's not used 90% of the...
I use the same setup. Slightly different shower unit, but basically the same. So it means it's a bit more of a procedure then just stepping into my shower at home... but overall it's still fairly quick and works well.
I've been rocking my Dometic 25L for 10 years now and it's still going strong. I only upgraded to an Engel 35MT because I was finding the 25L to be a tad small at times. If you're looking at "top brands" add Engel to your list. It's easily in the same ballpark as a Dometic.
After completing my summer trip this year - 18 days on the road (over 7,000km) in this tent every night covering many Forest Service Roads and a rough 4x4 trail and having owned this for 7 summers now, I figured I'd give another update/review on it that I didn't really mention in the first post...
Will have a bunch of pictures later once I get organized. But Dan Grec and myself finished doing Whipsaw trail and made it back to Nelson lastnight. I think it's fair to say that we both ended up with a lot more then we bargained for in this trail... but at the end of the trail the only damage...
Well finally decided to aim my fogs (needed to remove part of my bumper to access the aiming screw). Also successfully tapped the high beams lastnight and ran the wiring to a switch. Unfortunately I also managed to break the retaining clip in the stock drivers side headlight holder. Used some...
