Post pictures of your Land Rover.

We had his and hers LR3's for a few years, until she sold hers for the down on a Bronco Sport that she bought after seeing a test mule that Jim Farley was gassing up, and I sold mine for a 6G 2 door. That was fine for a couple years but once a Rover person it seems the siren call never goes...

Replace transmission in LR3 or buy an LR4?

it's not a huge consideration at the moment but I'm sure I'll be looking to upgrade in a couple years, the '13 LR4 or go all the way to Disco 5? I was leaning towards the TD but folks are having huge problems with them with the DPF filters and regen cycles diluting the oil, and the DEF thing. We...

Replace transmission in LR3 or buy an LR4?

What can you buy to replace it for $6800?

    Cheap but decent scan tool?

Using my Gap and a shop air compressor I managed to get my LR3 off the bump stops without a compressor installed and that is worth the price of admission right there. I've gotten my moneys worth and then some.

Out along the Alaska pipeline I see. Must have been quite a trip!

Most reliable US spec Land Rover?

Another vote for the LR3, at least with the 4.4. The local dealer told the highest mileage example they maintain has 340K miles on it, original drivetrain. The problems are well known by now, and prices are about as low as they are going to be. I'm on my third one, sold the wife's to buy a...

    Venom Tires-anyone used them?

I'm kind of stuck with 19", since I'm in a outer reaches of roverland area and no 18" rims are available. Not really wanting to spend huge money on tires right now either, and the shops here don't mount tires they don't sell. As for the cheap tires, I have a set of Sailuns on my 79 squarebody...

    Venom Tires-anyone used them?

I'm needing a set of tires for the Rescue Rover LR3 and found Walmart online has a decent looking AT tire, the Venom Power Hunter ATS. I have 19' tims so not a lot of choice out there and local shops won't mount new tires they didn't sell you so that leaves out Tirerack and such. They have the...

    LR3 front driveshaft disaster

I attempted to replace a center bearing, and managed to completely screw the whole thing up, with grease everywhere from the center CV and did not adequately mark the driveshaft halves, so there was vibration that made the vehicle unusable. Next time I'm just ordering a driveshaft.

New To Us D5: Impressions and Comparisons to LR3

That depreciation is part of the plan :) We also test drove a Defender when they first came out, and it didn't really have the impact the D5 had....totally subjective of course, maybe we had higher expectations. We played with Broncos for a couple years but they just never really had that feel...

New To Us D5: Impressions and Comparisons to LR3

I like these comparisons. The Rescue Rover will do for a couple years, but after having a loaner D5 for a couple weeks I'm thinking that will be a goal for the next upgrade. We didn't take the $77K loaner off road but they do look like they can deliver the goods.

    Discovery 3 (LR3) and Discovery 4 (LR4) Registry

after testing and checking with other experts, 217psi is plenty of air power so I;m not going to need a compressor. I will say I used an aftermarket compressor on a previous LR3 and had no problems with that one, but the Arnott one I changed out was pretty junky. Melted the connector at the...

    Discovery 3 (LR3) and Discovery 4 (LR4) Registry

Our $500 rescue Rover, 2008 LR3 with 188K miles and a myriad of problems, but with a bit of work and persuasion I did drive it home. The plan is to work this into a trail rig and commuter vehicle, to compliment the 2019 Disco Sport we just acquired. We had a fling with Broncos, she had a Sport...

    LR3 cracked dashboard thread

I just noticed I have a crack going from the drivers side defroster area towards the back, and of course the ones over the airbag which must be a 100% failure rate, at least that looks like it's supposed to be there.

    Freelander Trailer conversion

I like this idea, and that is about the best use for them over here in the US. We got the glued together V6 that is pretty much unrepairable once it blows the head gasket or broken a timing belt, nothing else fits engine wise, but this is a great plan.

    Used LR3?

We just bought our 08 HSE with 159K on the clock, it is solid, tight, runs perfect and is everything I'd hoped it would be and more. Thus far the biggest problem is that my wife keeps stealing it and I think she may have driven it more than I have, and she tells me I should think about getting...

    Discovery 3 (LR3) and Discovery 4 (LR4) Registry

I'm a week into my second Land Rover. My first one was a 1969 SIIA 88" that I enjoyed but in those pre-interweb days of the late 80's there weren't the knowledge and availability of parts to keep it going as a DD. Sold it to a cow-orker who whined at me every time it did some sort of Land Rover...
