One inch of up travel before it hits those supplemental springs (yes, they are a bump stop but GM doesn't seem to be really using them in this case) would be a good indication of why the ride quality is terrible on the truck unladen.

I can get some of your perspective, but it doesn't feel like you're giving the 900 a fair shot in the sense that you modified the 800 for the intended purpose and comparing them for the same job even though the 900 has a different purpose for you at its current configuration.

Apparently you need to do my searching for me, I can't find squat in the GMT900 2500 chassis that isn't trashed for less than 20K. The GMT800 2500 folks around here are asking five figures for low mileage examples, and holy moly, if it has a big block in it, they think it is worth gold
