Great photos! Good to know about the pyrometer placement. I'll be fitting one of those here soon.

99 FG Starts, runs rough, won't rev up

Sorry, stressful day at work. I'm not saying what you're saying is wrong. I'm saying a picture of the actual item in question will show a very slight nuance that may have been overlooked by the customer.

99 FG Starts, runs rough, won't rev up

Are you looking for help to troubleshoot the issue? Those pictures are meaningless. Let's look at your injection pump. Snap some photos and upload. Otherwise it's very difficult to help out a fellow Fuso owner.

    Heather and Dana's 2007 Fg140 Camper Build

I recall they had Allan over at Overlander Global in Colorado to help them out with the build. He would know for sure.

    1998 Fuso FG Camper Build

Hey I follow you on Insta! I'm @fusoturtle That's a great looking truck, it really shows the time and effort you put into it. I'm jealous of your 98, that year had the much simpler ECU and mechanical governor. I'm planning on downgrading so to speak my 2000 over the summer to that set up. If...

Anyone repack their own wheel bearings?

The factory service manual will tell you exactly which parts can be reused and what needs to be replaced. The parts catalog will have the part numbers. Send me a PM if you don't have those. Both of those were immeasurably helpful when I redid my front axle bearings/brakes/everything else...

FG chip tuning in the USA?

Wanted to add some definitive info to this thread. Was able to confirm for sure that 1996-2004 Fuso's running on the 4D34 are NOT capable of a chip tune. The only way to adjust fuel on these trucks is be very lucky and have a 1996-1998 where the ECU was bare bones basic and you had the...

Fuso Body Builder PDF Part 2 June 2004

Does anyone happen to have a copy of the Fuso Body Builder Part 2 PDF that used to live here? http://www.mitfuso.com/Content/Documents/pdf/Archive/FE_FG Part 2.pdf Dated June 2004 for the earlier models. Appreciate it, thank you! Alfredo

Going down the rabbit hole...Fuso build

So I did the same thing, bought a rusted 2000 FG639 to rebuild just about a year ago. There are a ton of parts interchangeable between 1996 - 2004, encompassing the FE/FG 639/649 and some other variants like the FE640. I know this because this has been the source of parts for my project. I’m...

    Diving in Head First!

Completely agree that it's best to get them last once the weight is finalized. I'm in the unique situation where the current suspension of the truck is gone, like front suspension sagging inverted gone. I've spent the last year fixing up an old FG639 (including front frame swap, I really...

@yabanja What were the front and rear weight numbers you used to spec out those Alcan springs? Your build is very similar to what I hope to accomplish. Cheers! Alfredo

    Diving in Head First!

This was a great thread to read, greatly appreciate all the time and effort you made for updating us Allan! We have identical trucks so I've taken studious notes of your findings. Perhaps I'll have a build thread too as well. I'm still working on getting my Fuso road worthy. Was an east...

During a build - containing costs

Great topic! I too try to avoid the overland tax whenever possible. Facebook Marketplace and junkyards have been a gold mine of savings for my project.

Looking for opinions/comparisons of the various Japanese cabover 4x4s

This is a phenomenal deal. The only time you really see these FGs with this kind of mileage is in the Northeast after the frames have completely rotten out. Fuso parts are still easily attainable here in the US. https://s1partscenter.com/ and my local dealership so far have all the parts I...

Trouble sourcing Fuso FG parts online

I ended up purchasing the parts catalog from a super sketch site but it's been a goldmine of info. Being able to lookup part numbers and ordering from https://s1partscenter.com/ (they tend to be the cheapest online) has been helpful as I'm trying to put a 2000 FG639 back on the road. The parts...
