2018 Ram 3500 Expedition Family Adventure Vehicle

I think basically every single "instagram worthy" midsize is at least 150% of axle capacity. I went with a 2500 for similar reasons, except wanting to create something that leaned a bit more crawler over hauler. I do often wonder if I should have gone with a 3500, lightened the leafs, and added...

I figured your truck was pretty heavy, but didn't realize it was at axel capacity heavy. That's pretty crazy. I don't know if I missed it but did you ever do a before and after measurement with the new bed? I'm imagining it added some weight but curious if you know roughly how much.

2021 RAM 3500 Tradesman | AEV Prospector | FWC Grandby

AEV makes a fantastic looking product, but I'm starting to wonder about design decisions they are making. I installed the snorkel on my 2019 and I can't believe the design of the thing. From where it comes out of the fender, it looks great, but there are numerous serious design issues I've got...

2019 Powerwagon build thread - Bones (warning lots of pics)

I don't know if kosher to link to another forum, but since it's very specific and not a competing one I'll share. https://hdrams.com/forum/index.php?threads/can-you-upgrade-to-uconnect-5.4652/page-3 Jimmy has a lot of insight into these things. If you can't find the info you need in that...

    Mid-size vs Full-size truck setup

There isn't a maximum distance as much as a maximum speed. Generally speaking, 4H is a "mid speed" drive. You can bomb short highway runs for like 60mph, but you're testing your luck. I think the generally accepted case is something along the lines of "surface street speed, but below 45mph" and...

    Differences Ram 2/3500 and 4/5500

I think that for most people the 9.25 AAM is a strong enough front axle to never render an issue. The only issues I see on the 9.25 is for guys that are really going hard off road. Either playing hard in the rocks, or high speed desert off-road runs. For those guys, Thuren, Carli, and maybe...

    Differences Ram 2/3500 and 4/5500

I don't know if you mentioned it and I never read it, but what is your specific use case for this truck? I think the general consensus is that the Dana is a better axle than the AAM, but I don't think it's a crazy difference. I have no doubt that a 45/5500 from either brand will be stronger...

    Hard Korr lighting alternative

Hey peeps, I ordered some hard korr lights for my truck like 2 years ago, been trying to get some additional parts for close to a year at this point and haven't received any support from them. I've tried contacting them via email, FB, and two of their instagram accounts (one of which has since...

    2023 RAM 3500 HELP

Well it depends on the question you asked. The rear axle did change, and the previous gears will not fit. The front axle is the same, and gears will fit.

For what it's worth, you could easily seal the oem location of the box that isn't used by the snorkel and remove the little arm that flips between positions. Boom, sealed box, and snorkel for cool points. Plus, snorkels look cool, water crossing or dusty roads aside.

    Mid-size vs Full-size truck setup

I'll plus 1 on that size trailer being small, but not for the reason you're probably thinking. I'm guessing that 34' trailer may have been similar to my old trailer (32' single non-camp slide). With 2 dogs and just one kiddo (about a year and a half old when we got it, and 3 when we sold it)...

    Mid-size vs Full-size truck setup

I guess I learned something new today. I knew it was the case for the Dodge trucks, didn't realize that GM and Ford HD trucks didn't have it. Thanks for the clarification.

    Mid-size vs Full-size truck setup

Are you talking about the Hemi lifters or the Cummins hydraulic lifters? Either way, any engine that has some sort of cylinder deactivation is going to be subject to potential lifter issues, and any modern V8 has cylinder deactivation. Anything with hydraulic lifters is also susceptible to...

I keep meaning to update my own build page, but I'm afraid you'll show up to start whispering "40s" in my ear when I just upgraded to 38s… Stay strong @Kingsize24. haha Unrelated, until your post I had completely forgotten that they offered the 5.7 on the power wagon. How does she feel overall...

    Mid-size vs Full-size truck setup

Yeah, I am specifically talking about the new Tundra. Every truck listed is a truck you can go buy off the lot new, as that appeared to be the OPs interest and I didn't feel like it was relevant to list out every possible truck made since 1990 (half joke). It's crazy to me how much larger the...

    Mid-size vs Full-size truck setup

Turning radius is a pretty good indicator of general maneuverability on tight trails. Wheelbase is important for sure, but generally speaking the two are pretty closely intertwined. For example, in the midsize market the gladiator has one of the longest wheelbases, and it is partly the reason...

    Mid-size vs Full-size truck setup

A few things I'll share, as someone who has taken a decent amount of trips in the north east, and is finally getting back to it more regularly, and who has 2 young kids and 2 dogs (lab and small mixed). You will not check the box with everything you want. You will need to decide what trade offs...

    2023 RAM 3500 HELP

The front 9.25" AAM has been the same on the 3500 since like 2014? Any front locker that fits on anything from then forward will work with your truck.
