Disco 2 skinny 16" wheels - calling all wheel guru's

Finally got the time slot to get the lift on and wheels sorted. This is the TF medium duty 2" lift from Lucky 8. Wanting the taller skinny look I stuck with my plan for 235/85/16. I always liked the Camel Trophy profile and this gets it close. Wheels are the aftermarket steelies for a Honda...

Disco 2 skinny 16" wheels - calling all wheel guru's

Moving along with the Honda Odyssey wheel experiment, so far so good. With some questions maybe other 235/85-16 tire people might have answers too. As for the wheels, I bought one, machined out the centerbore to 70.1mm and mounted one tire. Fit seems to be pretty good. No rubbing. The Honda...

LandRover Disco shifts like manual random! Thoughts

Might be the XYZ switch. This is a gear selector switch on the outside of the tranny. They get fickle from gunk. You can rebuild them vs buy. Do a google search. If not this it sounds internal which is not good but might “just” be a valve body overhaul.

Disco 2 skinny 16" wheels - calling all wheel guru's

It’s for a Odyssey minivan. Nearly identical GVWR as a D2

Disco 2 skinny 16" wheels - calling all wheel guru's

I got one of the Honda wheels in to check out. Really looks just like all of the basic steelies. A local machinist thinks he could enlarge the center bore.

Disco 2 skinny 16" wheels - calling all wheel guru's

That's perfect except the camaro uses M12 vs M14 for a stud size. I'm guessing that the M14 stud will not fit or allow for the lugnut to seat correctly.

Air Compressor that can set a tubeless bike tire?

As a mountain biker who has messed with tubeless tires a lot, seating the bead is not always easy. Especially with a fat bike. In my experience you need pressure and volume. I have a compressor with a 50 gal tank and a fat bike tire is still tricky. As said above removing the valve core is key...

Disco 2 skinny 16" wheels - calling all wheel guru's

Looks pretty good except the bolt pattern is wrong. need 5x120. which is not super common. This is a good source to match bolt pattern/cb/offset https://www.wheel-size.com/pcd/5x120/

Disco 2 skinny 16" wheels - calling all wheel guru's

No worries, appreciate the effort in trying. My quest is for the skinny tire set up as this has in the picture. These are the P38 wheels which are super difficult to find.

Which ones? The only I am familiar with is this one and its 8". I am also looking for steelies.

Disco 2 skinny 16" wheels - calling all wheel guru's

Stock is fine if you are looking for a wider tire application. Mine has the stock 18" wheels. I want to go with a narrower tire option (235/85-16) that specifies a 7-7.5" wheel. As I understand all 16" D2 stock options start at 8". Some use them anyway without problems but I would rather not...

Disco 2 skinny 16" wheels - calling all wheel guru's

Yeah thought about the 8" option but with 265/75-16 tires. The Camaro option is great except they use a M12 stud vs M14. BMW the same.

Disco 2 skinny 16" wheels - calling all wheel guru's

So, been following some threads on options for 16” wheels under 8” wide for a D2 fit. Specifically for the tire size 235/85-16 which is always specified for a 6.5-7-5 wide rim. I know there is a steel wheel (spare?) for the p38 that people use but is nearly impossible to find. So, killing time...

Is buying a Discovery II a bad idea?

I just bought one this summer after stalking them for years. Know what you're getting into for sure. I think for a “oldish” truck they are not that bad. Most of the catastrophic issues are motor related. The rest is just naggy little stuff that feels like a game of wack a mole. Parts are cheap...
