    2003 Sequoia build

Been a while since I posted because, after building my offroad trailer, I've been using and abusing (enjoying) the rig, and not changing much. I did add some baja designs lights to the front, and a coastal offroad bumper to the rear. I wish I had documented the rear bumper better, but It was a...

    Christo's tent trailer

Here it is in Baja and as it sits now. I don’t have a pic with the battery system and fridge installed, but I’m going to change quite a bit over the next month and I will make sure to document better.

    Christo's tent trailer

Forgot to take pictures, so I’m lacking a bit of documentation for these steps, but I skinned it with silver painted aluminum And attached it with 3m adhesive tape. Trimmed it in aluminum and sealed everything with level. Attached the trim with self tappers.

    Christo's tent trailer

Made a make-shift paint booth in the garage and did a duplicolor three step paint job.

    Christo's tent trailer

I decided I didn’t have time to fabricate the fenders I wanted, so I bought some off Amazon and bent them with to fit by stepping on them and pulling.

    Christo's tent trailer

I got a black series coupler for cheap off of the classifieds, but it’s not exactly meant for this design of trailer so I had to fabricate a tongue extension for it. Also I welded on the mount for my Fulton tongue jack

    Christo's tent trailer

Alright, the trailer is mostly done, but I had to push to get it done enough so that we could take it on our Baja trip. I’ll try to catch up on the progress till now. It did tow like a dream on the highway and Offroad. So that’s a load off. Here are some progress pics: I finished up the timbren...

    2003 Sequoia build

I finally almost finished the bumper. I made some artistic changes in the design of the bars on the wings. I think it came out pretty well. Decided not to finish the Bill bar tonight because it was packed in spray foam which is probably the MOST inconvenient way to package anything. Also they...

    Christo's tent trailer

Finished welding the box for the frame today, and welded in the cross-bracing. Then tacked in the door stops for the rear swing out door. I used 3/4” flat bar 1/8” thick for the door jams. Ok

    Christo's tent trailer

Got the box framed out and mostly welded together tonight. The walls are 1.5” square tube 0.065 wall. The top rails are 1.75” square .083 wall. Trying to keep this puppy light and strong. Tomorrow I’ll weld on the roof bars. They’ll be 1x2” by 0.083 wall. Then I’ll do some corner bracing and...

    Aluminum skin question

Do you mean to ease the corners of the plywood So it’s more rounded?

    Aluminum skin question

I hadn’t thought of that, thanks man. Maybe I’ll cut a small piece off and bend it to see what happens.

    Aluminum skin question

I have a question about skinning my trailer with aluminum and am hoping someone here can help. I picked up some painted 0.030” aluminum sheets that were scratch and dents so they were very affordable. I wanted to get some input on a good plan to mount them if anyone is willing. My trailer is...

    Christo's tent trailer

I mounted the brakes and aligned the toe for the timbren axles today. I just used some 3ft steel bar I had laying around and clamped them to the Hubs, centered on the spindle. I used two magnetic levels to make sure the bars were parallel. It seemed to work pretty well. I’m really excited about...

    2003 Sequoia build

Ya, I bought the body kit from 4crawler for a crew cab tundra and made it fit the sequoia. For a 1-1.5” you’ll only need a steering extension and radiator drop brackets. The bumpers are simple enough to make fit with a dremel. I had to buy one pair of bolts for the most rear body mounts (not...

    2003 Sequoia build

I should probably add that the move embark is a hybrid tube bumper, and while I got a great deal on it, I have an issue with it that bugs me. I have a one inch body left and when I adjusted the bumper on the frame mounts to fit, my radiator is exposed and there is no way for the bumper to tie...
