Planning out my first build, I have questions looking at a 16' Reefer Box NPR.

Hello Overlanders! The time in life has come, I have dreamed of building out my own rig for year, and I've just secured financial means to purchase a rig. I have $10,000 to find a reliable Diesel NPR and a reefer box to start the build. I will plan on potentially upgrading the truck at a later...

To Build my own pop top camper on my 97 Astrovan, or not to build.

Hallo all, I have decided to build out my camper, but skip on the pop top for now, I would love to build one, and feel that I am more than capable. However, I feel that it is in my best interest to wait for my next van that will hopefully have zero rust.

To Build my own pop top camper on my 97 Astrovan, or not to build.

I mean my line of thought with buying a pop top is once the van goes, I can just take it off, and install it onto my new rig. Shouldn't be too terribly difficult to fix a hole in the base of a pre manufactured pop top.

To Build my own pop top camper on my 97 Astrovan, or not to build.

Hello Overlanders! I have a 1997 Astro Cargovan AWD, with some bigger tires and a slide out kitchen I built in the back. I am greatly enjoying my van as a short adventure rig, but I think I may want to look into living in it more long term. My biggest complaint is the interior ceiling height, I...

Guidance on installing large full picture windows/patio door on an Expedition truck box.

Yeah the deck is small, 6' - 8" long and 5'- 7" wide (I am looking at alternatives to widening it to 7-8') . I am currently planning out building some custom furniture that will be integrated into either the deck itself or the back of the box, that can be folded up as thin as possible, as to fit...

Guidance on installing large full picture windows/patio door on an Expedition truck box.

That may be the ticket in terms of a door design, Lexan would be a far better candidate instead of Glass. I will be doing more research on this. Also that sliding tube system is perfect, You are already working the magic. I have an 8" subfloor cavity that I'm sure I could fit Yeah...

Guidance on installing large full picture windows/patio door on an Expedition truck box.

I'm seriously considering building my own sliding glass door, doors in general are time consuming to build, but buying one in the configuration I would prefer will cost $2000+ (A very significant portion of my budget). I can build one for significantly less and I'll learn a new skill. Lexan...

Guidance on installing large full picture windows/patio door on an Expedition truck box.

All good points to consider. For further clarification in terms of window placement, as a few have mentioned that a kicked rock could shatter said Patio door, here are a few 3D views of the project as it sits. The Patio Door will be just inside this garage/deck area. Planning for space for a...

Guidance on installing large full picture windows/patio door on an Expedition truck box.

Hello all! So I've been designing out my future home module that can be moved from one vehicle platform to the next with just a few connections removed. I'm still working out my envelope conditions and framing. At the moment in terms of budget I'm looking at a solid welded steel frame with...

Looking for insight on doing a Roof Raise on an Ambulance

Hello Everyone! So I'm in the process of designing my dream off grid home on wheels. Given I'm planning on living out of it I'm wanting a minimum of 72"clearance to be able to stand freely. I'm looking at a 1999 Ford F450 4x4 with a 7.3 Diesel. The problem with this is that basically all Type...

Hello all! So I'm currently in the process of designing out my future off grid home on wheels. I have fairly steep endeavors planned out for a full off grid work from home living system capable of all seasons and regions. Currently I am planning on building off of a Ford 7.3 Powerstroke E450...
