Out in the desert recently, trying out the new awning.

    Just an old Scout II

Sorry for the late reply. No, they did not. In fact, while many Scouts had white tops, I don't know that any of the Scouts had white roofs like mine has. I just liked the look so I painted it this way back in about 2007. Again, super sorry about the late replies. To do the flip-up thing, I...

    Just an old Scout II

The windshield frame is another issue on a truck this old. It's also pretty badly rotted out at the base. Gotten noticeably flimsy. And I've been slowly working a replacement for it over the last 10-12 years. Found a nearly rust free WSF. It still need a little more sanding and a second coat...

    Just an old Scout II

Thanks everyone! You're half right. It was done for rust removal. Both sides. I don't know about "in progress" though. Hah. I stopped worrying about it over 10 years ago. I did think about adding some kind of step there though. What I'd love to do is replace the rocker panels. Either with...

    Long Distance '85 Ranger Build

Heck, my Coleman two-burner white gas stove is still my main camping stove, thirty years running. I've had to replace a couple of parts over the years, but it still does a great job. As a backup stove though I also carry a little MSR Whisperlite backpacker stove (also white gas). And a super...

    Just an old Scout II

New-ish member here, but I've been into this kind of thing for quite a while. Here is the Scout II I've own for just over 30 years now. Before this I owned a little Subaru 4x4 Wagon, my first car. Wrote about it here in the 'show us your Subaru' thread. The Scout's got a 345 V8, 4speed manual...

    An "off-road" Lamborghini

Yeah I remember that too! Back in the day, Eddy Van Halen was know to drive the original civilian model around L.A. They've been making these things forever. Probably decent off-road. Excellent ground clearance, approach and departure angles, etc. LOL: https://www.lamborghini-tractors.com/en-eu/

    An "off-road" Lamborghini

They made new one? I remember the LM008s or whatever they were called. Fast but ugly, looking back at them.

Subaru owners: Let's see your expedition rigs!

Dang it. I just orders a few things from them a couple of weeks ago. Nothing big, luckily. Totally forgot about black Friday at that time though. I could have saved maybe $25. Oh well. We put one of the smaller rollout awnings on my girlfriend's CrossTrek. Just the little 4.5 footer. And I put...

    Bronco Portal Axle kits

Yeah. Unimog is a really well-known example. Also Pinzgaur(sp?) and some others.

    Bronco Portal Axle kits

Didn't VW use these on their bus/van transaxles back in the day? I recall it being a desirable setup on Baja Bugs. Using a bus transaxle to get the extra ground clearance under the engine.

    Subaru Lifts

Looking at that page, I'm really surprised now that that Subaru never brought back their "low range", at least for some models. I'll bet people nowadays would love it. For those not familiar, Subaru 4x4 models (this was in the pre-fulltime years) had it back in circa 1980-198x; not sure when...

Subaru owners: Let's see your expedition rigs!

I'm kinda late to this party. Long time lurker, first time posting. Just wanted to announce that I think I invented this whole Subaru as Overlander concept. LOL Maybe not; haven't looked at every page of this thread. I am pretty sure I am among the handful of first builders. These pics might be...
