Super single tire conversion dilemma yes/no?

…gearing (5.13 stock, stock rear locker), modifications required. … Agree on needing to address the gearing. On my F550 chassis, I am changing to 6.17 gears as part of the build.

Super single tire conversion dilemma yes/no?

I started looking at super singles for my unit during the summer, so understand the quandary. However, my purpose was to increase my ground clearance and ability off-road, as we spend a lot of time dispersion camping instead of being a road warrior. My unit is built on an F550 4x4 chassis, and...

    JKU Rhino Pioneer Rack system?

Agree, our gear sleeps outside while we sleep in the jeep. We have waterproof totes, so nothing gets wet. Like you, I also have 37 inch tires, but kept the 4.10 gears and manual transmission so still get great mileage. I swapped the gears in my sons Gladiator to 5.38 a couple of months ago to...

    JKU Rhino Pioneer Rack system?

I added a rack to my JK to carry more gear on trails like the Rubicon and MPG went down by 5mpg. Took it off and it now sits in the second floor of my shop until I get motivated to modify it and install it on my 47 cj2a truck conversion I built years ago. However, I still needed to carry more...

2000+ Miles Exploring the Great Basin

Thanks for the great information. I just found the OTG site and will be joining so I have all of the GPS tracks I need. We spend about 4 months during the winter in the southwestern US, so hoping to run some of the Arizona and Nevada routes this year, with Idaho/Washington/Oregon/Montana...

2000+ Miles Exploring the Great Basin

Thanks for a Great video!! I’ve been looking at this trip in March/April 2025 at the end of our winter trip, and the video was a huge help. Jarbidge mountains are likely out because of snow concerns, and the Bruneau River Canyon is out because I will be driving an Adventure RV on an F550 4x4...

    Making my Jeep smaller?

At 65, I rarely sleep in a tent, and generally only on BDR trips on my KTM 690 Enduro R when hotels are not close enough to be reasonably accessible. Since my jeep is setup for sleeping, overlanding in my 4 door jeep is pleasurable. If I had a TJ, it wouldn’t be my overlanding rig…

    Making my Jeep smaller?

I tied a loop on one end and looped it around the little lever that activates the release. Poked a hole in the rubber plug, pushed paracord through the hole and tied another loop that I can grab from the inside when the gate is shut. I think it took me 5-10 minutes to install.

    Making my Jeep smaller?

Agree, lots of vehicle bias, so folks run what fits their needs and budget. Also agree on no one vehicle fits all needs. We take our F550 platform 4x4 motorhome close to adventure locations and use it as base camp, then switch to the jeep or adventure bike. Even running BDR trails on the...

    Making my Jeep smaller?

No disrepect, but that is the dumbest statement I have heard in a long time. My 2014 has a 3.5 inch rock crawler lift on 37 inch tires, and it is setup specifically for overlanding. I removed the rear seats and built a platform frame out of 1.5 inch .125 angle, with 3/4 plywood with each of...

    Earthroamer sell off?

I was going to respond with something similar. I don’t have an ER, but have a MH that is being upgraded for better off-road performance right after the first of the year (I wanted more comfort than the ER provides and don’t need the extreme nature of an ER), and could have easily paid cash...
