    Goin' Potty Bag

What are people using for the actual waste bag? I keep thinking a polyethylene grocery bag because I've used that in a pinch but they are notorious for holes and tears. While not always true, I suppose something actually made for the job might work the best. Recommendations?

    Driveway leveling ramps

@crazysccrmd , what are those yellow ones next to the black bag. They look like Legos and appear to provide a lot of customization. Those look perfect for travel use. For my driveway they don't need to be lightweight or adjustable. Designed to be use in one place and one place only.

    Driveway leveling ramps

Has anyone built simple leveling ramps for a slightly angled driveway? I'm thinking conceptually of a 2x10 cut into two 3-foot sections. At the end of each 3-foot section I would attach a 1-foot section of the same board. Could be done with a single 8-foot stick. In this configuration it would...

    Dedicated Snow Tire

We're having a pretty poor snow year. La Nina always does this to Northern Utah. Can you share a general location? Looking to get in some late winter and spring skiing since I'm just getting my rig up and travel worthy. Between a busy 9 to 5, a minor surgery, and very hit and miss snow it just...

    4-Season Camper Thermostat

I recently put a Lance 825 on my F-350. It's a 2017 and is in great shape. (The truck is an '04.) Everything works as it should which is both good and bad. As a 4-season camper, I'd say it is ready to be turned into a 4-season camper. One of my gripes is with the thermostat. Setting it to the...

Hierarchy of hard sided campers that handle the snow/winter?

Traveling with wife we want an enclosed bathroom. The smallest Adventurer doesn't have that. The bathroom in the 825 is quite large.

Hierarchy of hard sided campers that handle the snow/winter?

I like the Adventurer campers but they are too heavy for my old truck so I went with a Lance 825. Who knows, if I decide I love truck camping maybe I'll upgrade everything.

    Dedicated Snow Tire

At this rate I won't need snow tires until next year.

    Dedicated Snow Tire

Thoughts on mounting and unmounting tires? I'd like a dedicated set on separate wheels but I'm having trouble finding what I want and I'm due to pick up my camper this weekend. I've never felt good about stretching tires on and off rims but I don't know anything about it so it's just a gut...

    Dedicated Snow Tire

With regards to the comments on snow removal and studding, I'm just going to run bald tires since Utah seems to be snowless this year! The East is stealing all our storms with that massive high pressure parked over the Great Basin since October. In all seriousness, I do need something that...

    Dedicated Snow Tire

Looking for an E-rated snow tire for my F350 in 275/65R18, or LT or whatever designator is on the tire. Don't want a beefy AT tire. I'd rather be unnoticed and on the road than "looking cool" and in a ditch. I also hope to find a set of inexpensive* wheels to mount them on as my dedicated winter...

Reasonable Mods For Carrying Heavy Things

Does the new truck handle the weight any better or are they about the same in driving? I'm sure the 6.7 has a lot more oomph than the 7.3, if you went diesel again. I was pretty adamant that I didn't want to mess with DEF or the DPF so limited my truck search to pre-2009 or so.

Reasonable Mods For Carrying Heavy Things

^^^ this is me. I saw a small camper up at a local ski resort a few days ago, surrounded by snow and ice. I thought, I'm never going to be comfortable driving in these conditions knowing I'm overloaded. Too many years of trying to follow requirements and too much risk when you ignore them. I...

Reasonable Mods For Carrying Heavy Things

Building a pole barn this summer. Get a cover over it then work on the rest as I have time. 20 year plan. But, not getting any younger so don't want to keep waiting until the stars align. Good things don't come to those who wait. We just get old. Ask me how I know! And, this winter is starting...

Reasonable Mods For Carrying Heavy Things

Suspensions seem like a black art. You can run all the calculations and simulations you want but in the end you have to build it and see how it performs to know how you need to build it. Prototyping is the most important and most expensive step of any design. It is why nothing works anymore...

Reasonable Mods For Carrying Heavy Things

You are right about the weight. The wet weight is 2,800 and that doesn't include supplies, clothes, etc. That'd be 3,000 pounds at least, putting me 800 pounds over weight, around 36% over. I'm looking for someone to tell me that's okay, or can be handled with this or that mod, when my gut is...

Reasonable Mods For Carrying Heavy Things

Of course I would never run over GVWR on purpose. But, supposing I was close to GVWR and was hiking from the truck and found 1,000 lbs of buried Spanish gold up in the Sierra Madre? I would naturally want to bring that gold home to donate to a museum. What mods could I make to 'prepare' for that...

    Payload ratio

I guess there's no consensus on this. I'm thinking of putting a NL 8-11 on an '04 F350 SuperDuty. I'll be a few hundred pounds over weight but I need the 4-season capability of the NL. My alternate is a Lance 825 with significantly less 4-season capability. There seem to be two schools of...

Hierarchy of hard sided campers that handle the snow/winter?

Greetings. New on this forum. Based in Northern Utah. Hoping to buy/build a rig that I can use for winter camping and accessing backcountry and crosscountry trailheads. And, of course, the other three seasons. With family in Arizona I'll want to stay cool as well as warm and insulation...
