There is a piece of aluminum flat stock in th middle to step on. I didn't think it would hold up myself. I still have more work to do on it just not enough time. I like the set up so far. My girlfiend likes it to put dirty boots in, on the way into the camper.

Is this what your thinking about? I just slapped the rack on for the photo shoot. It is rock solid when bolted to the bumper. I plan on cutting out the back part of the rack for easier access for the girlfriend. And yes it is a piece of scrap aluminum on the tailgate. The rack is from cabela's...

Fifth wheel tailgate Hawk with my tailgate, the cutout in the center works great for access through the door, it works great as a table.

I use a fifth wheel tailgate on my Dodge ram and a hawk. It sits on the tailgate a couple of inches so using anything to hold it down is unnecessary. I know pictures I can't find them just now i will try later.
