    Suburban Poptop vs. Excursion Poptop….

I'm a die-hard diesel guy. Been driving nothing but diesels since 1995. I love everything about them - the noise, the smoke, the rattle, the vibration, and the fuel economy. However, the days are gone for making a valid reason to justify buying a diesel purely for the better fuel economy...

Early ‘99 F-350 Powerstroke work truck turned expo rig, with some work truck in there still!

Are you positive that the siding is aluminum? From the pictures it looks to me like it might be fiberglass. They used corrugated fiberglass back then. I personally had a 1994 Alpenlite 5th wheel that had corrugated fiberglass that looked just like that. Notice the screw molding that is about...

Oh yeah? That's cool. What rig do you have? There's another forum member, Brandon, that was there, and I intended to meet up with him, but just forgot. He's got the solid axle Suburban. Casey

Guess who's back!?! Atl-atl's K5 Blazer + Four Wheel Camper "The Crawlin Cabin" documentation thread!

I recommend these diodes from Roadmaster: https://www.roadmasterinc.com/hy-power-diodes/ Essentially, you cut the factory wiring going to the taillight, then splice one diode in on each side. You will have two inputs and one output: one input is the factory wiring and the other input is from...

    1985 F-250 6.9IDI Build Thread- Tractor Camper

Sweet rig! I love the old IDI's. I've owned and daily-driven an IDI for the past 29 years. Mostly old school Chevy square bodies and OBS trucks/SUVS with either the 6.2L or 6.5L diesel. A lot of people don't like them, but they have treated me well all these years. My current ride is a 1995...

300K miles on the ol' 6.5L diesel....

UPDATE APRIL 2024 Well, it's been a while since I updated this thread!! I still own the Tahoe, and she now has over 400K miles! The original factory engine went 378K miles before she finally blew a head gasket in July of 2022. Long story short, I ended up rebuilding a low mileage...

    1996 K1500 Build

I just replaced the suction/discharge hoses on my 1995 Tahoe. I wanted to replace the orifice tube while I was at it, but that line was seized to the condenser, and I was afraid I was going to destroy the condenser trying to remove it. I'm afraid that I have the same job lined up for me in the...

    GM 6.2L V8 Issues?

Ditto! Even to this day, when someone mentions the 6.2L, I get excited for a moment or two until I realize they are talking about a gas engine! :D Casey

What gear ratio is the 14 bolt semi float you currently have that's too narrow? I'm wanting to swap my 10 bolt for a semi float 6 lug 14 bolt, and I wouldn't be opposed to running wheel spacers.... I'm wanting to also go to 4.10 gears in the process. Casey

Frustrations... Express Van trailer wiring issues

Yes, that's a thing. On the pickups of that vintage, GM did not attach the 12V + battery wire to the stud on the front of the fuse box under the hood; the wire was taped to the harness; you had to remove the wire from the wire harness, and attach it to one of the 12V + studs on the front of the...
