I'm not sure about the 4th gen, but my 2002 did great when it was stock. I didn't do any rock crawling, mostly just getting to remote camp sites through mud and hilly terrain. I've since lifted it and beefed up the tires, but that's all so far. Bear in mind the 3rd gen has a rear locker...
