Very innovative solution, @JackW. Fun to see someone using their Series Land Rover this way, too. We used to take ours on big adventures, but I confess I've gotten a bit old for that now.
Thank you, Lemsteraak! Your information is very helpful and I enjoyed learning the history of the AutoHome ladder. I do really like my AutoHome tent, and enjoy the heritage and legacy of the company. It's great to know you still use an AutoHome ladder even though you don't use their tents...
Hi Lemsteraak,
Yes, thank you for your thoughts. I do like the low weight of the AutoHome ladder, but my current vehicle is rather tall as you point out so I must keep the ladder at its maximum extension. There are two things I don't like about it (well, three actually).
1) When it's on...
Hello everyone. I have an AutoHome Columbus that I've owned for a few years, and although I love my tent, I hate the ladder it came with. My son has a Yakima tent and it came with a telescoping/collapsing ladder, which seems like a better way to go. I'm interested in a telescoping ladder of...
Thank you, Frenchie. And about how far apart are the two channels spaced from each other? Judging from your measurement of the c-channels starting about 12" from the ends, my guess is they're about 30" apart, which would mean they're spaced about 15" from the long axis of the camper. Does...
Thank you, Frenchie! This is really good to know since I can't see and try one out in person. Could I impose upon you for another piece of information? I have combed AutoHome's site (both the US site and the european one) and can't find it. I'm modifying my Outback trailer to carry a...
Good news (I think) -- in looking at AutoHome's site a little more closely, it turns out the Small and Medium are the same length, and are only different in width. I should've seen this before.
Hello all,
I'm struggling with a similar decision and thought maybe I could piggyback on this thread since the OP's post generated such great discussion.
I am looking to buy an AutoHome Columbus and I can't decide between the Small and Medium size. The Columbus will be primarily mounted on...
It looks great! How could you not have a blast in that thing. Love the galley.
I'm in the process of putting mine together and it's great to see results like yours. Well done!
Thanks for the replies, everyone. @Mike S, I will give you guys a call when I'm ready to order.
@NatersXJ6, I'm using 1-5/16" because my local Jeep custom guy has a pipe-bending shop (for custom roll cages and the like) and that's the smallest size he works with. He had some good ideas for...
Would anyone know if Outlander Trailer is still in business? I'm trying to get hold of Robert, who built my trailer in 2007-08, to ask him about some modifications I have in mind. I've searched around on Google but of course all you get from "Outlander Trailer" is the previews of some silly...
Hello.
I am putting together our overland trailer using an Outlander Sherpa II as a base. I bought the Outlander in 2008 from Robert, but only had it rigged for toting stuff, not mounting a tent on it. We towed it behind our 1964 Land Rover and slept in a tent on the ground. My wife and I...
Hi 4xDog,
The lamps have H3 bulbs in them. I don't honestly know if they were intended for fog or driving. The lens pattern is straight, vertical lines, and the surface of the lens is flat.
Thanks,
Myron
