I installed these years ago when I pulled the heads off of the block in my 2006 Montero:
Ebay lifters
The truck has been running strong for years without any issues after putting the engine back together.
I have an 06 montero and had the same issue that you're dealing with. Oil in the coolant, but nothing else wrong. The coolant in the overflow tank and under the cap of the radiator always had a layer of oil floating on top. My oil in coolant issue was minor, but troubling so...
I tore into...
I overhauled the top end of my 2006 Montero back in 2017 and went with these lash adjusters.

My 2006 Montero randomly does this too. Turn key forward (clockwise) to start, but nothing happens. Turn key backwards (counter-clockwise) like you're shutting off the car, and try again - then bam, it fires right up.
I haven't dug into this as a simple retry seems to work reliably for me...
I too did an aftermarket exhaust from the outlet of the cat back in my 2006 Montero. The stock setup broke at the inlet joint of the original muffler (due to corrosion) so I removed it up to the cat. I think it has a flow master muffler without the stock resonator and it's loud. My wife and...
I did an engine and exhaust refresh (heads off engine block) over a year ago on my 2006 and went with denso to replace all 4 O2 sensors. I ordered the O2 sensors from rockauto. They have been trouble free (over 16,000 miles) since the install.
Ditto. I should have mentioned that when I took mine to the dealership for a proper balance, they removed all of the stick on weights and used the weights that clip on the lip of the wheel. These clip on weights are on the inside lip of the wheel to keep them hidden from view if you’re worried...
Oh man, not really. It was time consuming.
I’ll try to summarize:
1) Jack front end up and safely support it. I used jackstands up front and left back wheels on the ground. Probably smart to disconnect the battery too.
2) Drain radiator.
3) While it’s draining, remove front wheels.
4)...
I think you're heading in the right direction. The hub and wheel are the areas to focus on immediately in this instance. The control arm bushing could be bad, but from my experience the shaking you're experiencing at high speeds is related to the wheel/tire balance or the lack of concentricity...
Yes, I meant a Mitsubishi dealership.
Your video of the wheel shaking is exactly how mine was when the tires were improperly balanced. The tire shop tried twice, but never was able to get them properly balanced so I took them to the dealership and they balanced them without a problem and the...
I had a severe shake (2006 Montero) after getting new tires due to a bad balance job. Had them rebalanced and still had the same problem. Took the wheels to a Mitsubishi garage and they properly balanced them and shake was gone.
I had a bad front wheel bearing years ago and it didn’t shake...
Got the rack installed and everything in the engine bay put back together so I could start her up. Rack seems to work with the lines reversed. Still need to get the ballpoints and outer tie rod ends installed on the knuckles before I can truly test it out and take it for a ride. Hopefully get...
I thought it was an assembly error too. I had the vendor send me another rack assembly but it was plumbed the same way (not matching the one I removed) I did try to remove the lines before installing, but I couldn’t get them out after I loosened the nuts. I pulled on them pretty hard, but was...
Well, I bit the bullet and installed the rack as I need to get back on the road. Still not at a point where I can test it. Need to add coolant and put battery back in. I did the rack along with the adventure driven designs custom springs and bilstein shocks. Super pumped to drive it after...
I'm having this same code on my 2006. It will trip the CEL if it's logged as pending and it is detected again. It happened to me the other day, was pending, I started the truck to warm it up and when I got in to drive off, the CEL was on. I need to get this one figured out too.
I have the steering rack out of my 2006 montero limited (hell of a job getting it out, but that's another story) and have a question regarding the replacement. Take a look at the picture with the new and old part side by side. Notice the hard line "feed tubes" and how they don't route to the...
I purchased stainless steel headers from Australia back in March 2017. Brand is Advanced Headers. Model is A349MRSS. This is a direct bolt in replacement. Only thing needing done by me (outside of the install) was to drill a hole in the header pipe where the EGR pipe threads into the header...
Took the Montero to the exhaust shop today. Just got it back. Left the original cat, but got all new exhaust pipe from the cat back. Deleted the resonator and installed a magnaflow muffler. I'd take some pic's, but it's pouring rain outside at the moment. She's loud, but my butt Dyno says there...
