Irwin the 1995 Disco (200tdi and 5 Spd swapped)

A disco steel looks good in black. I've been threatening to do mine for 8 years The alternator belt is a pita. It should be 10mm wide and 605mm long. A 10A0605C, but ETC 7469 is usually 10A0617C, which just seems to stop the belt staying tight enough

Can you post up some pictures and more detail - essentially " the hub is loose": where/how/why?

200tdi's are somewhat tempremental whn it comes to engine mount damping

Interesting engine mounts. Not standard. Try ANR2488 or ANR1808. The latter are the best

That's the Kingpins. What preload ddid you set it to last time? On the bench (without the seal) it's 1.5kgs, but on the vehiclke, with the seal (and preferably two stanless clamping plates) it's 7kgs!

Driveshafts/propshafts rarely cause shake, unless massively out of true or lifted by 4+" What you tend to get is vibration, through the manual gearstick. This can be sorted easily by turning the prop one spline out of phase, either back or forward (or you can buy an expensive double carden...

Irwin the 1995 Disco (200tdi and 5 Spd swapped)

The axle case mountings, for the trailing arms, get tired after a while, with potential elongation of the bolt holes. Also the bushes are short lived, if rubber bonded. SuperPro would be better

Shake will be wheels/linkage. Props would be vibration Have you checked the panhard rod bushes? Have you checked the trailing arm to rear axle casing bushes?

Vehicles I've sold to expo members

The one to have is the 3.4litr 5 cylinder TD, then add an intercooler. They were always rare in Europe. In the UK they are like golden hens teeth. I almost bought one in from France, a few years back, but I was out bid

I've always felt a 74 was the perfect 70 series. But that mint green so nice

Just use Jubilee clips for the time being. I've used top and bottom relaocators in the past. I think Gwynn Lewis's bottom (lower) relocators are the best, but I just fitted a cheap second hand pair of Devon 4x4 top relocators on the Disco, and they've been fine

the spring issue is simply because your shocks aren't matched to spring length. two easy fixes: fix the spring to the top spring mount with three, evenly spaced Jubilee clips (not sure what they are called in the US) or Buy a set of spring relocators

I've used OME (2)764's on the rear for years. They are a medium duty, 40mm lift, rated at 220lbs. I've found this to be perfect for good articulation, load carrying, towing and comfort. I'm running OEM whit/white 115/215lb two stage progressives on the front. Probably Britpart copies. They've...

Irwin the 1995 Disco (200tdi and 5 Spd swapped)

You can run 235/85x16's or 245/70x16 on standard disco steels (-33mm offset), without a camel cut, if you run a 40mm lift on the rear (OME764) and a 30mm lift on the front OEM green/blue/yellow You only need a camel cut if you increase the offset or run 245/75x16 This is for 200tdi/300tdi...

    The Status of Overlanding Today

I've been going off on vehicle dependant ravel for years. Since 1986. First on my Daytona (Europe, Greece, Yugoslavia, Turkey), then in a Series LWB (Tamanrasset, then Wset Coast of Africa down to Cameroon) then in a raft of vehicles - mainly Land Rovers, powered by 200Tdi engines, but Nissan...

I wouldn't bother swapping axles to 24 spline - the ten spline is just as strong (or just as fragile); just have some vehicle sympathy I think that is a really nice looking bus. Good engine. Good box. Nice mods
