    Kamparoo Transcontinental rear-fold (new build)

Thanks! Can't wait to get it out there... Yep. That is part of the route. Wheelbase of truck is 107 inches (4 door 70 series) and the overall length of the trailer from coupler to rear edge of tub is 13 feet. 5 feet width for the tub. The wheels/axle are maybe an inch wider on either side...

    Kamparoo Transcontinental rear-fold (new build)

Sick wife, poor weather, and a pending garage gas furnace install meant we didn't get camping but it was an opportunity to do some mods... First to go on was a DEEZEE truck box. Eventually this will house a diesel heater. Currently holds spare 5 pound propane bottle, ammo can fire pit, landing...

    Kamparoo Transcontinental rear-fold (new build)

Picked her up last weekend. Pulled really well, even behind an HZJ77 Landcruiser! Lots of room when opened. But next weekend she's going on her maiden voyage so I'll get some better pics of the tent part...

    Kamparoo Transcontinental rear-fold (new build)

So I've gotten word... She is ready for pickup! I'll be going to get it next weekend. I'm on a flight right now and have to finish getting the truck ready (24 to 12 volt conversion is coming along...) But here are the last of the progress pics from the build. My ARK trolley wheel and rear...

    Kamparoo Transcontinental rear-fold (new build)

You are correct. Spare is still under the a-frame. Since I'll have nothing on the a-frame (at least to start) I might reverse it to the top instead. That'd make access way more convenient. As for the slippers, I'm likely not going to hear them over the old 1HZ diesel clacking away up front and...

    Kamparoo Transcontinental rear-fold (new build)

Parts are back from powder coating! Next they'll bond the panels to frames and then start putting the tub together. (Removed people in the pic so photo looks a little distorted.)

Fuso Canter Guts FD 70BB with 4M42 2.977L AWD

Steady torque at low rpm all day. As for acceleration? Also all day. LOL. Okay I'm exaggerating. And bear in mind I have not driven the 4m42 so I can't speak specifics, but in general terms, small 4 banger diesels aren't always the same as modern gas engines in terms of north American highway...

    Kamparoo Transcontinental rear-fold (new build)

Today I got an update: shocks, springs, brakes and axle are in place! I guess that makes her officially a roller now?

Re-Greasing 95 Montero SR radiator fan clutch?

Just in case somebody stumbles across this in a search, the silicone oil is measured in centistokes or cSt . Typical OEM seems to be around 10,000 and can be had in hobby shops (used in r/c differentials I believe). Toyota also still carries it in a (small) tube. In the Landcruiser world many...

Fuso Canter Guts FD 70BB with 4M42 2.977L AWD

Me and a buddy have been looking at these from a distance for years and mulling it over as a platform. Would you be keeping doubles at the back or switching to single wheels? Some of them came with a 16.5" wheel so have a close look at the wheels for availability/compatibility. Also the 4m42...

    Kamparoo Transcontinental rear-fold (new build)

Got an update today. My sides are going in for powder-coating this week, and my rear corner steadies finally arrived from Australia, after getting delayed by the Canada Post strike. The guys at trailersrus (aus) were great to deal with BTW... (these jacks weren't available in North America at...

    Kamparoo Transcontinental rear-fold (new build)

Thanks for taking us down memory lane with you! If you've posted about this trailer on here in the past, then I've read it. Your tongue mods look familiar. Yeah Glen has been doing little changes year by year for a long time. He seemed pretty proud of this latest chassis when he showed it to...

Such awesome pics! Thanks for the feedback. Glad your experience was positive. I'm looking forward to getting mine out there! Cheers!

    Kamparoo Transcontinental rear-fold (new build)

One last update for now... This trailer is built with a standard ball coupler which won't do for where we are going. And my experience with a lunette/pintle was rattlier than the old 1HZ diesel up front! There are lots of great options these days but I kept coming back to the Max Coupler for...

    Kamparoo Transcontinental rear-fold (new build)

Thanks! I'll try to keep updating as it moves forward. On my build sheet I've upgraded the bed to a folding queen but I'm not adding any amenities such as kitchen, water storage etc since the truck already has all that. I might add a tongue box at some point but for now it'll be a bare drawbar...

    Kamparoo Transcontinental rear-fold (new build)

Okay backstory: Near as I can gather, Kamparoo Campers began bringing in and assembling official Cub knock down kits in Canada in the late 90s. (They are located south of Edmonton in Alberta.) Sometime in the mid 2000s they decided to make their own. They would continue to bring in wax...

    Kamparoo Transcontinental rear-fold (new build)

Back story upcoming, but this trailer is being built locally this winter by Kamparoo for spring delivery, and will live behind my HJZ77... For now, the "foundation", as it were... Galvanized frame, 5x8 tub, will sit on leafs and shocks, and probably weigh in around 950 lbs all told. This is...

    is 4x4wire gone?

Still makes me sad. It was almost 25 years ago when Little Joe approached me to start the mitsu section. 25 years?! How did that happen? These days I'm usually on ih8mud and am the moderator of the mitsu section (such as it is) among others. I still have visions of the old guard coming over...

'99 Land Cruiser 90 Series diesel (Canada - JDM import)

Just rolled up 160k kms on this little commuter. This month I replaced the lower balljoints (yes, its got THOSE lower bj's), since its the achilles heel of the platform. I used OEM's. Also removed my spacer "lift" to conserve fuel, and replaced an inner CV boot. Otherwise, oil changes is all...
